Taming grey hair - any recommendations?!

I have naturally darkish blonde hair and have had highlights for years. I'm now allergic to PPD so can only have a few bleach highlights and a semi-permanent PPD-free dye (Wella Colour Fresh) as lowlights. I haven't had this done since August, for obvious reasons.

Over the past three years my greys have got steadily more dominant, particularly on top. My hair is curly and there's a lot of it, and it tends to frizz anyway, but with the greys and their with texture I have no hope, honestly 😱

I use a silk pillowcase which definitely helps a bit but has anyone had any success in softening/taming grey with any treatments? I only use conditioner on the ends of my hair as too much either makes it fluffy or something greasy. Should I be looking at Olaplex or similar? Will anything help?!

I've just had some success using a sample I got a while back - Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque - stupid name and painfully expensive though Smile That's the only thing I've used and done nothing to my hair afterwards and it's naturally dried ok - no mad wiry tufts ( my grey is in 2 patches mainly so it really contrasts with the rest of my hair which is both fine and dark, and those patches really stand up! ) Olaplex 3 did help too, but not as noticeably. To get my hair totally not frizzy I'd have to use straighteners or blow dry it, but I guess thats not an option for curly hair.

Thank you @lefthandedoctopus! That is a really stupid name for a hair treatment 🤣

I might give Olaplex 3 a try too - I've seen travel sizes for sale and I guess I could pass it on if it didn't work for me. The ends of my hair are quite soft (and actually annoyingly fluffy) but the new grey hair just had a mind of its own.

Do the aveda hair quiz online or email them.

It’s expensive but annoyingly good.

Don't buy Olaplex of Ebay btw, I've read a lot of it is supposed to be fake.
I've just tried another treatment ( went a bit OTT with fancy advent calendars this year, hence all the samples ) Philip Kingsley Elasticizer - and it's done a great job - all the greys are smoother and hang pretty much in line with the rest of my hair - huge improvement from poking up vertically! I left it on for ages, much longer than it suggests on the bottle, but I'd recommend doing that with Olaplex too tbh

Olaplex was disappointing for me. Though the olaplex treatment at Aveda hairdresser was good.

Elasticizer sounds good. My problem isn’t so much that my greyer hair sticks out frizzy. It’s just got this very dry frizzy fragility which looks not great. I’ve had to cut it myself shorter in lockdown, to cut back the dead wood so to speak! I find a good conditioner helps a bit plus a little Garnier coconut oil when damp.

Thanks all! I've heard good reports of Elasticizer in the past - I might give it a go. I hadn't thought of Aveda although I haven't had much look with their curl range in the past.

For a much cheaper option, I do also like the Herbal Essences coconut milk conditioner I'm using on the very ends of my hair at the mo.
