Dermatica - How does to work?

I have melasma on both checks and someone on MN recommended this. I've had a look but it looks like you have to pay before they do a consultation? Is that correct?

What happens when you pay?
Is is easy to cancel?

No you sign up, first month is, or was, free so you only pay P&P. You take closeup pics of your face and the derms use those to make a prescription up for you.

Then each month you pay £19.99 plus P&P and they send it to your front door. Mine is set to 35 day delivery because I don't need a new tube every 28 days.

It takes at least 6 months to really start seeing a difference so there's no point in signing up unless you're in it for the long haul.

@Icenii Hi,was it me who recommended it?

As pp says you pay postage for first tube. So this the free trial and then you pay from then on.

I’ve been really lucky and it’s taken far less time than 6 months to see a difference,my Melasma has almost completely disappeared,I can’t believe it especially after trying so many expensive creams.
Best of luck!

Actually I think I’ve name changed recently so you won’t know 🤣

Hi, so I joined up and they are suggesting 4% Hydroquinone. I had a quick Google and this is what comes up. Anyone else use it? I'm not sure now.

The warning is for products bought over the counter containing hydroquinone, the Dermatica is prescribed by dermatologists and sent from their online pharmacy. It's all perfectly safe, a pharmacist will make sure of that, and they do have pharmacists working for them.

I'm just about to receive my second tube from dermatica and so far I'm impressed. My skin is dull with open pores and I'm not expecting visible changes for a while but certainly it feels far smoother.
Having previously been a sucker for the Instagram wonder adverts this actually feels like it has potential

Icenii · 11/03/2021 14:07

OK, so I've gone for the Hydroquinone 4% and tretinoin 0.015%.

I think I'll need to up my SPF. As I'm sporadic and generally save for sunny days. The recent sunscreen I got with tint kinda feels like I don't put enough on.

Anything else I need to know?

You definitely need a decent SPF cream.

Icenii · 16/03/2021 16:59

Arrived today, so I'll be trying it tonight.

Going well for me too, my open pores have lessened significantly, feels like the first time since I was teen that I have had a shiny nose rather than something that resembled a strawberry! My skin is brighter and feels so much smoother.
I've also saved on the other lotions and potions that I would have used, prior to this a I was impressed with GOW serums but they cost me just over £60.00 and lasted just nearly a month!

I've paused my delivery once in 5 months of use as I'd started to have tubes awaiting use.

I have a code if that is of any use to anyone. Can be reused. It gives a free first month and 25% of the second. I also get a discount off my next months supply.

My skin did flake but changing to No7 hot cloth cleanser has stopped this too, I think the creaminess of that cleanser has helped.
