Babyliss big hair

I am considering a babyliss big hair to smooth the top layer frizz I get on my wavy/curly hair. I want to maintain the wave/curl
My hair is just below shoulder length with long layers. Would you get the small barrel one?
I know it's for shorter hair but I thought it would give me more of a curl

I can't see the Babyliss Big Hair working for this. It's a tool to achieve a smooth blow dry akin to using a round brush and a hairdryer so it won't maintain your natural waves and curls?l.

I have one that I used to blow dry my hair straight but with some volume. I found it heavy and awkward to use and it's sitting in a drawer where it's been for some.

Ok. It was recommended to me for this purpose
I did wonder because the rotating brush may destroy the curl pattern

I think you'd be better with tongs and a serum/de-frizzing oil smoothed on afterwards.

I have the bigger brush babyliss big hair and have been using them for about 6 years? It produces a lovely blow dry like you get in a salon with a hairdryer and a round brush. You end up with silky glossy but not poker straight flat hair you can get with straighteners. It naturally curls under at the bottom instead of just being straight down (if you see what I mean). You can definitely give it more volume than if you use straighteners but it will take away the wave pattern as you are pulling and rolling it whilst drying. I hope that makes sense!

For those that use one, what is your natural hair like? Mine is curly and pretty frizzy and I cannot blow dry it straight with a normal drier and brush or I end up like hagrid. Have been considering one of these but I'm just not sure....help!

BitOfFun · 05/03/2021 06:53

Your hair sounds like mine, dolly. Yes, I think it would help you.

AmbridgeGirl · 05/03/2021 07:05

Your hair sounds like mine, I use it and really like it. I get smoothness and waves and as an above poster said, I get curls at the end. As the barrel is big I find it hard to get right to the roots, so I do still get some frizz at the top of my head / parting. So I just run a straightener through that inch or two, to smooth them out.

It’s not for wavy or curly hair. As others have said, it creates a salon style blow dry - so straight, but with much more body and jzhoojzh than straighteners.

I’ve been using a BBH for over 10 years. I’m on about my 4th or 5th one. I have thick, frizz-prone hair.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 05/03/2021 07:19

Agreed with others - you won't get curl with the big hair. I can flip the ends of my hair but the top is always smooth.
If you want actual non frizzy curl you may consider the dyson airwrap. It's £££££ but very versatile and has the curling barrels. My hair is never frizzy with it.

dollyknocker · 05/03/2021 07:31

Thanks, guys. I'm going to treat myself I think. I like having straight hair but with a bit of body and wave in it so sounds perfect for me.

Mollymarvelous · 05/03/2021 08:51

I’ve got one and use it for frizzy wav/curly hair. You can’t really just use it on the top section as it would blow out your natural curl into the shape of the brush . It does create a nicer effect than me trying to blow dry and feels smooth ish afterwards. It’s good but don’t expect miracles ( like the first day you used ghds back in 2003 !! They were a miracle . Kids these days don’t know the struggle of ironing your hair )

I think Babyliss Pro 800w Rotating Brush might be suitable for you because it comes with 2 rotating brushes of different sizes (40 mm & 50 mm).

Love love love my BBH - I’ve been using them for years, think Im onto my fourth now. As pp have said it won’t give you curls but it’ll smooth out your hair and give it some lift.

There is a knack to it though - you have to blast your hair with a hairdryer until it’s pretty much dry and then run through the BBH through your hair section by section. Don’t try and use it on wet hair. I also find it doesn’t work so well if I’ve air dried my hair but that’s probably because it goes quite curly and the BBH isn’t a straightener as such.

I agree. It definitely tames my frizz, no doubt about it.
neveradullmoment99 · 04/07/2021 16:35

It leaves it bouncy and super shiny. I try not to use it all the time [every wash]. If I do, it tends to make it a bit flat. So I use it every other time. Its fantastic. I air dry my hair cause I am lazy and then finish it off with the bbh. Don't let it dry too much though!

lalafafa · 04/07/2021 17:34

I have frizz prone wavy hair and use it when I want a straight look. I've been using wonder Water and my hair stays straight for 4 days. I section my hair from bottom to top, I dry the hair under the barrel and over the barrel too, more sleek look.

MiaowMiaow99 · 04/07/2021 18:25

I've terribly frizzy wavy curly hair and it gives me a bouncy, hairdresser standard blow dry. The thinker and curlier the hair, the bigger the bounce. I'm on my 4th or 5th. Wouldnt be without it.

The Babyliss big hair is great for smoothing, it’s a great appliance
