Anybody willing to describe the before and after effects of their treatment? Smile

Completely pain free. No side effects. About 3 days later it started to kick in. Fully effect not until around 2 weeks.
No one would know I'd had it done but did get a few 'you look well' comments. I definitely looked less tired and more fresh.

I've had Botox from a few different places. It never really hurts to have done but if the injector uses too much I find there's a sort of heavy feeling as the muscles really are totally paralysed. My current doctor is really skilled and uses just enough (she prefers to do top ups if needed) and I still have some movement and no heavy feeling but the lines disappear. I really recommend it, stops me from frowning at my computer screen all day!

I get a headache afterwards but that's it

Thanks. I'm meant to be a bridesmaid next year and I'll be almost 36 so thinking I need to make sure I look OK.

I had it in June last year. First time. Took a few days to kick in and the had no movement in my eyebrows at all. Quite a weird feeling but I liked the look although it made it difficult to apply mascara or eye make up (I kept ending up with mascara on my upper lid because I couldn’t raise my eyebrows to apply it).

Also, when I first had it I was able to lift one eyebrow but not the other so I needed a like bit extra on one side. All of a sudden I couldn’t open that particular eyelid in the mornings - it was really stiff to open and I had to flick it open myself (once it was open it was fine). To this day (so 9 months later) my eyes are really stuck together in the mornings and feel gritty/dry. Also really dry in the evenings. I don’t think I’d have it again.

Definitely do it, wish I had done it much earlier. I would suggest getting it ASAP to see how you get in, and top up if needed before June. Process takes 5 mins. I get my 11s and forehead done. It does feel slightly unusual in that normally I would be a major frowner...not anymore!! It opens up your face in my opinion. I had no issue with my eyes etc. Pick a good consultant is my advice and cheapest isn't best always . I absolutely love the effect, and my face looks so much fresher. Wrinkles are managed now, and I love the way I look.

Goes without saying but most important is finding a good practitioner- I am paranoid so would only go to qualified Dr; the one I use is also an NHS consultant who moonlights part time doing injectables through a national chain.

You can choose how many areas e.g 11’s (between eyebrows when you frown or furrow eyebrows), across forehead, eyebrow lift etc and they charge per area. It’s really quick and painless- might feel a bit weird - best advice is probably keep your eyes shut, relax and don’t move!

Ask for baby Botox as I’ve had it done a couple of times now and the first time (pre-baby botox) it felt like a helmet from a suit of armour tightening and whilst it looked fine, it felt weird 😂 Baby Botox is more natural and you can still move from the eyes up lol

Hope you have a fabulous time bridesmaiding!

Just to add - A good practitioner will advise you for the best results though; shop around and be fussy/happy with who you’re choosing and then take their advice.

One good bit of advice I’ve received is if the person doing the treatment has themselves cultured a plastic/fake look, this is their idea of improvement so if it’s not yours then go with someone else as they’ll give you the same look.

Claudia84 · 07/03/2021 13:13

I’m 36 and had it for about three years. First time I went to a well known clinic with nationwide presence and all fine - just got the 11s done but second time noticed it just didn’t quite last. Then found one on recommendation a person who is a GP but does this now and even though I just wanted 11s she asked loads of questions about the final look I wanted (do you want a lift in your brows, how much movement, what ‘look do you like) and also she’s probably in her 50s and looks amazing but you’d never know she’d had anything done.
She injects in a few different areas for the treatment for one area and is great.
What I’m saying is get someone who asks you lots of questions, if you like how they look as well helps. Ask where and how they trained as well. And get someone who you are confident has a good knowledge of facial muscles etc.
My DH has absolutely no idea that I get it done. I can literally see him an hour later and it’s fine. Results you start to notice at two weeks but probably start to feel a bit of heaviness after 3-4 days.
I love it!

And if you get it soonish it will give time for any lines you have to smooth out prior to June rather than still having a line but just one that doesn’t move....

Corkina · 07/03/2021 14:07

I agree, start now. My lady only gave me 11s to start off to see how I felt with the effect..which was nice as I thought I was booked for 2 areas. So they weren't pushy or money grabbing. One lot I felt didn't have enough effect, straight back in and they topped up, no questions asked. It definitely takes a little time to work, so that's why I suggest starting soon, and get a few sessions under your belt so you're fresh as a daisy for wedding.
