What's the best eye cream you've found?

Thinking of trying Clarins as I like their creams generally ... I do like natural products but don't get on with any of the Body Shop ones - they're either too thin or irritate my eyes.

Just something for general lines, circles, dryness - any wonder creams out there?

I haven't tried it but have read good reports about Estee Lauder eye repair. It's not cheap so I might pop it on my Christmas list

splishsplosh · 05/11/2007 20:39

I haven't tried many others, but I like Clinique repaiiwear for eyes. Expensive, but it does last ages. It seems to keep lines at bay, or maybe that's just wishful thinking. I swear I noticed an improvement when I first started using it though

I'm currently using a combination of Liz Earle Smoothing line Serum in the evenings, and a Clarins one in the mornings (it was a present, but I really like it).

Bueller · 08/11/2007 19:56

Clarins Eye Contour Balm is fab

can't afford it any more though, so am currently experimenting with Boots No 7 - not hugely impressed so far...

tiredAli · 08/11/2007 20:00

Clarins stuff good - but estee lauder one better. much to dh's disgust, I am a conossieur (sp?) of both. estee lauder one pricey but SOOOO worth it.

bambam30 · 08/11/2007 20:47

hi all elemis eye seum is fab clarins balm good but avon do one called eye perfector which has a gel and a cream in one and it also very good but can i remind you all that you should only use the size of a split pea of eye gel and only the size of a grain of rice for eye cream and that is for both eyes or else you will end up with bigger eye bags due to product overload!!!!

monkeymagic · 08/11/2007 20:52

origins white tea eye cream v v good

burts bees quite greasy but good for night time

franch · 08/11/2007 21:52

Philosophy - it smoothed out the crinkly bit under my eye and plumped out the lid. If I don't use it for a few days I really notice the difference.

pukkapatch · 08/11/2007 22:39

my friend, who is a dermatologist says we should never moisturise skin

I have nevre heard that

weebleswobble · 09/11/2007 11:11

Blimey - if I didn't moisturise my face, it would be falling off in clumps

LoveAngelGabriel · 09/11/2007 13:05

Aveda Tourmaline or the Loreal Revitalift eye cream both pretty good.

franch · 10/11/2007 19:16

Thanks ww and LAG

Never moisturise??? That's assuming you cleanse with what? Water + cleanser take away at least some of the natural oils along with the dirt, surely?

pukkapatch · 11/11/2007 21:51

apparently because skin is self moisturising naturally.
what moisturiser does, is not actually add moisture, but block the loss of moisture. so it actually abets in oil collection, blocking of pores etc. which is bad for our skin,.
we need to use it because when we wash our skin, we strip it of its natural moisture, and therefor get the tight feeling which i s removed by the addition of moisturiser. which cause the blockage of pores etc which is basically the downward spiral.

apparently we need to get out of this cycle. use only water for washig, or at most, aqueous cream. and within a couple ofmonths, the skin will regain it's healthy balance.
she's a consultant dermatologist.

franch · 12/11/2007 20:05

It's interesting, but I wonder how many people have actually tried it ... And do those people cleansing with pure water (a) live in a stinky polluted city and/or (b) wear several layers of makeup?
