So fed up of chin hairs!

Since getting pregnant in 2017, I have been sprouting thick, coarse and VERY dark hairs on my chin. I can do stretch marks, loose skin, hair falling out and associated regrowth. I can deal weight gain etc but I am really struggling with the chin hairs. They've become more plentiful with my second pregnancy. Currently, I wait for them to grow enough and pluck every few days. They are so thick that it really hurts and the roots are big. There is probably about 20 or so, all at slightly different stages of growth. The thing that has pushed me over the edge was spotting one I hadn't noticed that had grown about half an inch.

What do I need to do to get rid of these fuckers?

Mine started after thyroid surgery followed by synthetic hormones I need to take forever Hmm

I get little patches on either side just under my chin of hairs all growing at different rates.

I tweeze every few days the little bastards.

I also dermaplane every few weeks for peach fuzz but the chin hairs re appear again within two days Confused

I bought some expensive but bloody good angled tweezers and have a pair in my bag,a pair on my dressing table and a pair in my bathroom cupboard so I randomly spot and tweeze at varying points of the day

I have found that removing all bright and harsh lighting from my home means any stray hairs magically disappear. It's amazing. Wink

But in all seriousness though, I've started to stop caring (never having the opportunity to leave the house probably also helps on that front).

Lumea has worked wonders on my thick, dark chin hairs. I've only used it 4 times but have no regrow at all now.

I got a lumea at Xmas mainly as coarse chin hair was upsetting me! I have pale skin and very dark hair.
I’ve had about 50% reduction so far, so not perfect but I’m going to continue. What’s I’ve noticed it’s got rid of a lot of the finer yet still dark hair on my chin / underneath my jaw. But Not quite as much on the coarse ones.
I’m going to do underarms next and legs next.

For those using the Lumea, did you have to shave your chin first? I think instructions for other body parts are to shave not pluck first, so the hair root is still in place for the zapping. I am terrified to shave my chin in case it makes regrowth worse and the Lumea doesn't work!

Hi is the lumena painful

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/03/2021 09:05

Lumea is only one brand, there are other choices. I bought a Babyliss IPL is January and have seen significant results. I imagine a lumea is better for legs as the head is small on mine but as it was £24 rather than over 10 times that, I'm prepared for it to take 5 minutes longer each treatment.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/03/2021 09:07

@MegsSmeg I only have one or two so shaved a tiny area and treated.

@Babypiggy IPL doesn't really hurt, occasionally if you haven't shaved effectively you get a sensation a bit like being pinged with an elastic band though

OP I'm pregnant at the moment and my chin hairs are way way worse, plus the face fluff hairs are worse too. Must be some hormones that are stimulating it.

I dont think laser is recommended when your pregnant but you need long term solutions to get rid of it, not waxing/tweezing etc. So laser or electrolysis is the way forward if you can afford. Laser works least effectively on facial hair from my research when compared to say legs, arms, bikini line.

I have a lumea and i didnt see the impact that i hoped. It did definitely help in a few spots, but not a game changer. Admittedly I didnt use it at the intervals I was meant to, which is really important. After pregnancy I'm going to do it more religiously and get on top of the remainder of my armpits, bikini line and start of my legs.

Do consider electrolysis - I had it when much younger for some hair on my chest which I was so embarrassed by. It was the best thing I ever did. I am considering going back to electrolysis for my stubborn chin hairs - just bc I feel they are both very hormonal in nature.

Hope that helps

Yes you do and I'm not going to lie the regrow that between the treatments the first couple of times was awful to the point I wondered what the hell I had done. Then after the third treatment they just never came back so it was all worth it. I keep running my hand over my chin as it's so soft & smooth!

I think I have tried them all and the only one which worked is electrolysis TBH.
