My dd (14) would like to curl her poker straight hair.

What should she be using ?

Assume money is no object (unlikely in reality but she has a birthday coming up and loads of aunts and uncles who will give cash probably)

many thanks!

I wouldn’t buy the curl secret . I have it and you can literally smell your hair burning with it . I prefer straighteners for curling my hair .

I've got a lot of gadgets for curling my poker straight and thick hair. What works best for me is good groundwork (for me, hydrated hair and L'Oréal techni art spray) and my straighteners. Others will have different preferences but if you/she already have straighteners, give them a go? My hairdresser described the technique as like curling a ribbon and it's given fairly consistent results (and quick even on my thick hair).

Oh.... and one of my gadgets is the Curl Secret. I stopped using it early on as I pulled a clump of hair out and burnt other bits.

The Dyson cordless straighteners do great waves/curls and they are relatively gentle on hair

I have poker straight hair and a lifetime of trying to get some sort of curl.

The curl secret is quite good, if you get one make sure it’s the one that curls both ways.
For £££ ghd curlers are good but a babylis wand will also do the job.

But for an all round tool straighteners are probably the best. If she searches on YouTube there are lots of videos about how to hold the straightener to get different types of curl. Try YouTuber milabu for tutorials

Product is also important, a heat protector and something that will give hold.

Also depends what type of curls she wants.

I just got a cheap Mark Hill Mermaid curler lately and I really like that affect. The very young trendy girls at my local coffee shop went mad over the waves... So I think it's a cool look at the moment 🤣

Wow, thanks everyone. Will start to look around ...
