I need powder but it doesn’t suit me

I’ve found a foundation that looks ok (returning to work soon after mat leave) and I use a cream blush but I need something to set it a tiny bit/stop my nose and forehead turning to a greasy shiny mess.
But as soon as I put powder on I look blank and ill and about 10 years older (I just had a basic no7 translucent one). It doesnt suit me. Going without totally doesn’t work.

Not sure what to do could i please have some recommendations of a powder that’s not too powdery if that make sense !

Those that have suggested Beauty Pie, would you go with the translucent one or the one that shimmers?
I’m in a similar position myself OP!

Soontobeseller · 27/02/2021 19:44

@redroses86 admittedly I haven’t used the Beauty Pie one but I’ve used a Bobbi Brown one with a shimmer and it just made me look sweaty Blush

TinyPickle · 27/02/2021 20:42

@Soontobeseller may not work for everyone but my make up artist at my wedding suggested it - I’m so pale most powders leave orange streaks! It definitely stops a greasy T zone for me but I only use a light dusting of translucent powder Smile

(and my wedding photos are my best ones - nothing to do with being toying and childless
I’m sure 😂)

Use a dewy fixing spray on top of the powder.

MadKittenWoman · 27/02/2021 20:48

Also, powder with a slight shimmer works best.

Daniel Sandler invisible veil blotting powder is fantastic

Soontobeseller · 27/02/2021 21:14

@TinyPickle I’ll give it a try thank you!

Elf HD translucent powder is fab and very inexpensive. The primer from the same range is excellent too

ElderMillennial · 28/02/2021 10:56

I agree with PPs who say setting spray or hydrating spray on top of the powder helps it look more natural

JoanDarc · 28/02/2021 12:22

BP one powder. I occasionally use a setting spray for special days and really recommend the urban decay one.

XingMing · 28/02/2021 12:41

The uberlucent, completely colourless BP. It's white in the pan.

Me too. The name suggests it will be highlightery but it isn't.
Lamentations · 28/02/2021 14:53

Also - the rest of Beauty Pie's products are also very good so it's definitely worth the membership even if you just do £5 per month.

PurBal · 28/02/2021 14:55

I would use a coloured powder rather than translucent.

XingMing · 28/02/2021 17:29

Nadine Baggott has put it on her must-have list for three years running. There may be other products that have done as well, but I can't think of any.
