Teeth whitening

Mine are looking very dull and I'm interested in the options for brightening them up.

Could spend up to £200 relatively guilt free but would need a guaranteed bloody drop dead gorgeous smile for anything over that!!!

What have you used that worked and what did it involve??

Just place marking. My dentist quoted me 510 for enlighten which involves 3 visits. He said I can choose from 20 shades...

I’m considering Enlighten, not doing it now as it’s hardly an essential medical procedure. I am a bit nervous about tooth sensitivity reported by others. Price similar to that mentioned by WaterBottle.

Hmmm OK so that's definitely the pricier end - but then as you say it's not for now really so that gives me longer to 'save' and justify it.

Obviously what I don't want to do is pay £200 for something that doesn't work and then end up handing over £500 anyway!

I ordered crest white strips from amazon USA. They cost about £50 including postage. They lightened my teeth enough for it be noticeable and me not to feel self conscious any more. The 1 hour express were particularly good.

I got Whitewash whitening kit from my dentist just before Christmas. Comes with trays and four syringes of whitening gel, cost £344. My teeth were pretty dark and have gone to the other end of the spectrum after three syringes. I’ve had a bit of a break and will start the last syringe next week. I had some sensitivity but nothing terrible, but I did have some nights off. I’m very pleased, I heard whitening explained in an interesting way. You can go for milk white teeth which is where mine are now or paper white which is the brilliant white Hollywood look and looks less natural.

I had a plastic mould of my teeth made at my dentist that you add whitening paste to it and wear them for a couple of hours at a time until you get desired whiteness. It was £300 and the best bit is that you can just reuse it any time you want a top up and the whitening paste is relatively cheap (about £15 for a tube) and I find that if I top up once a year, they stay very white. It made a huge difference to my teeth and I'm pleased I did it.

The down side with it is that it can make your teeth feel pretty sensitive after the whitening so you need to leave it a few days before whitening again. Using sensitive toothpaste helps though. I think teeth sensitively is an issue with all proper teeth whitening methods though, so hard to avoid.

I have used crest strips from Ebay or Amazon I can’t remember which around £15.
