Footwear for spring: what are you buying?

I am new to the UK ( sorry keep repeating this ad nauseum but have to explain my cluelessness in wardrobe matters). I have a birthday coming up, and after building up my winter wardrobe, thinking of starting on spring.

My lifestyle is very casual, wfh, mostly wear skinny/straight leg jeans/jeggings and trainers for walks in the park. I was thinking I should invest in a pair of good quality Chelsea boots though, maybe from Clarkes or Dune, seeing as things are opening up and maybe I might make it to a restaurant by July:) Thoughts? Or would some other style of footwear be cooler and more versatile? I am all about comfort and do not wear high heels.

Loads of chelsea boots on sale ATM, I've just bought these as I like Aigle and they're usually wide enough for me.

Oh those are lovely, though Aigle would be too expensive for me, I think. I have very narrow feet as well, long and narrow.

I like Chelsea boots, but I prefer lace up, ankle boots. Like biker boots or hiking boots. They go with lots of things imo so price per wear is great. Also very sturdy and comfortable for walking in.

BikeRunSki · 26/02/2021 11:56

I live in Blundstone Chelsea boots, or Birkenstock sandals. I have converses for the few in between days.

Frequentflier · 26/02/2021 11:57

I am in London so I do walk everywhere and take public transport. I thought biker boots looked best with floaty dresses ( which is v much not me)?

I was thinking of something like this. Maybe a bit boring but I prefer to think of them as classic. www.dunelondon.com/patrole-low-block-heel-chelsea-boots-black-0092511110001484/

They can also look nice with turned up jeans imo Smile. If you're planning to wear with jeggings, maybe flat knee boots? Although, maybe they will be too warm in a few months.

I don't tend to wear ankle boots with jeggings or skinny cut jeans tbh as they end up looking a bit wrong on me!

HiPieInTheSky · 26/02/2021 12:02

I found the quality of Dune boots has gone down, I have sent the last 2 pairs back the quality of the leather was shocking, even for fashion boots.

CatSickYellowSocks · 26/02/2021 12:04

Boden has a few nice boots in the sale, they tend to be long and thin fitting too, much too narrow for my hooves!

Frequentflier · 26/02/2021 13:15

it is so warm today in London today I feel like I should be wearing sandals!

Well, I've gone a bit mad today and bought snakeskin boots as a complete impulse purchase. Well, not a complete impulse because I've looked at them a few times and swooned over them.

No idea how to style them or what to wear with them! Any thoughts?

Those boots are great! Midi or midaxi dress and tights, straight leg rolled up jeans?

FreeButtonBee · 26/02/2021 15:07

@BikeRunSki - what's the fit of Blundstones like? I find eg Vega trainers really comfy but converse awful. Wide-ish feet but not super wide. Sturdy I would say! I really like the look of them actually and could do with something which won't wear out in five minutes as i tramp up and down on the school run.

BikeRunSki · 26/02/2021 18:15

@FreeButtonBee - good choice, I’ve been wearing them for 25 years!! Just bought my 4th or 5th pair. They go with everything.

On Blundstones, the half sizes are the same length as the ful size, but wider. So 6.5, really means, 6 wide. There are no half sizes for length.

In terms of length, I size down. If I was buying shoes from Clarks, I’d get an 8 wide fit, but could get away with a standard 8. In Blundstone a 7.5 fits like a glove.

I have ginormous feet. Away from Clark’s I’m often a 9.

ultrababy · 26/02/2021 18:21

If you post a picture of an outfit you would wear them with then maybe it would be easier to pair a boot with it?

Now I would totally follow the All saints vibe with their slip dress with sweater combo and their biker jacket.

I have these in both black and white, they have memory foam in the soles and feel like slippers. I wear neutral, simple or girly blouses so they add a wee bit of detail.

Chelsea boots in the Superdry sale. The strap is removable which I like as it gives them two looks. Very comfortable and soft. No use if you have a high instep though as would be too hard to pull on (no zip).

White trainers from Dune. They are to replace a pair from two years ago that are too tatty now. I don’t think they are as good quality but they will do. Next time I will buy from somewhere else if anyone has any recommendations for white leather trainers?

JaceLancs · 26/02/2021 22:48

Dune or Aldo are good for narrow feet
I also like kurt Geiger or miss KG but only the leather ones

I bought these at the beginning of the Winter - so comfy and always feel so dressed up when wearing them .

Thanks @BikeRunSki just ordered a pair of the rustic black. A friend was wearing them at the weekend and they looked both cool and comfy so I am sold!

BikeRunSki · 28/02/2021 22:24

@FreeButtonBee - I hope they fit! I've just got some of the rustic black with electric blue sides.

Can you recommend some biker boots please?
ParisJeTAime · 28/02/2021 22:50

@Dugee, I don't own them, but, I love these:

I also love Whistles Asha boots and was this 🤏 close to buying them, but then I saw Clark's Witcombe boots on sale. Bought those and love them!
