The perfect blusher?

Looking to update my make up now that life is returning. Any recommendations for a blusher? I’ve heard it’s best to avoid powders as they can be aging? I’m late 30s and looking for a rosy coloured natural blusher. I’ve used Benetint liquid blusher which I quite like? I don’t wear much makeup but I do like a rosy natural glow.
Any suggestions?

Yes OP incredibly easy to apply. Shake the bottle first and start with a tiny dot, then build if you want to.

@tofuschnitzel all powders are ageing. The powder sits in wrinkles and the matt look is very ageing generally.

@Gwenhwyfar not sure if you mean you want to contour your face? Contouring
can be used to slim your face but I wouldn't say blusher can thin your cheeks by itself.

I rate the glossier cloud paints - a little gore a long way. You can buy 2 of them for a slightly discounted price if you want to try a couple of different shades. They've just brought out some new shades too but I'm not looking as I have 4 of them already - how many blushes does a girl need!! (Esp in lockdown)

In fact, if you use my link you get an additional 10% off and I get a wee kickback too.

Powder blushes - I have an hourglass one that I love and I will sometimes use that in top of the glossier ones if I want a really intense colour. I also rate sleek blushers - quite pigmented and there is none which is a complete dupe for Nars Orgasm if you want a bit of sparkle.

Lululu22 · 25/02/2021 22:40

What’s the best way to apply cream blusher please? I’ve been doing a mix of dabbing it on with finger or a beauty blender but wonder would a brush be better?

kirkandpetal · 25/02/2021 22:53

I just use my fingers. I figure a lot of it would be absorbed by a sponge/brush. Interested to hear what others do though.

geminiflanagan · 25/02/2021 22:57

I use the pawpaw tinted balms. The peachy one or the rosy one. V natural and also bargain cheap from Sainsburys!

Builtthiscityontoiletrolls · 26/02/2021 01:22

I use matte foundation and don’t like liquid blusher on top. Seems to remove some of the foundation. Matte is more powdery so I stick to powder based products on top.

PurpleSneakers · 26/02/2021 06:31

As pp said, NARS in Deep Throat - never found it aging, maybe quite the opposite Wink

buddy79 · 26/02/2021 10:55

I use lipstick as blusher too, glad I’m not the only one! I have a mega cheap boots natural collection lipstick in “crimson” which is quite a scarlet pink- I’ve tried a fair few others but nothing looks as good, just because this is exactly the right shade and it really wakes my face up. I just dab on a tiny bit with my fingers and blend up from apples towards tip of ears ( not actually that far up my face but in that direction!)

Londontown12 · 26/02/2021 11:25

I just use my middle finger gently to blend liquid xx

"@Gwenhwyfar not sure if you mean you want to contour your face? Contouring

I was hoping it could be if well positioned. The old suck your cheeks in thing.
I don't see the value in blusher otherwise - why would I just want to add redness when I've just used foundation to get rid of it?

Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 26/02/2021 11:43

@Notanotherhun

I use my lipstick as a blush. Moisturise and while it's sinking in, dot on lipstick and blend.
Me too
tofuschnitzel · 26/02/2021 12:42

Mostly because foundation can make your skin look flat as it makes it all one colour, so you can use blusher to bring a bit of life back to your face. You don't have to use blusher if you'd prefer not to. I find that it lifts my face and gives me a healthy glow, which I don't always have naturally!

If you do it more 80’s style (higher up on cheekbones almost by eyes) rather than on the apples of your cheeks.

This video explains it better!

I also use lipstick as blusher. I was tempted to buy when I read about the expensive blushers in this thread but I stopped myself.
The advantage of lipstick as blusher is it gives a unified look - I put a little on my brow one too. Lipstick seems to last a bit longer than cream blush in me too

icelollycraving · 26/02/2021 12:56

I love blush, creams and powders, sometimes both. I really like Stila convertible colour in Lillium as a fresh pretty natural shade.

Wildwood6 · 26/02/2021 14:49

Another vote for NARS liquid in orgasm- although be warned the bottle is a nightmare! I've given up putting it in my makeup bag as the lid seems to constantly work itself loose. But a little goes a long way and it does look lovely. To be honest, the powder version is also very good, and not ageing at all, although the liquid one does look a little fresher IMO

Gwenhwyfar · 26/02/2021 15:14

"If you do it more 80’s style (higher up on cheekbones almost by eyes) rather than on the apples of your cheeks."

Thanks. I think blusher AND contour would be a bit much.

FreshFaceTime · 26/02/2021 17:53

@WonderWomansPants oooooh I love the look of those! Ordered 2 after reading your post.

I've been using the cream Shiseido one that @crazyaccountant mentioned and I do like the moussy texture but it's double the price of those Daniel Sandler ones and there aren't as many shades to choose from.

FreshFaceTime · 26/02/2021 17:58

Oh and I love powder blushers too and don't find them ageing at all. Using a bare minerals one at the mo and it's lovely.

merrygoround88 · 26/02/2021 18:02

I love Bobbi brown slopes - perfect pink

ginandwineandbaileys · 26/02/2021 22:47

I like Bobbi Brown blusher, so easy to blend and looks natural.

grapefruitish · 27/02/2021 07:24

Chantacaille gelee blush is lovely. I just bought both colours, after trying the peach shade I went for the raspberry shade too. Both are beautiful snd you can build them up for more colour. I watched loads of Instagram and YouTube videos on various brands and shades so I could get the right colours. I think I picked better shades doing this than I have when trying on in the store.

Thank you to whoever used my Glossier referral link up thread.....! I think I might try one of the new shades of cloud paint to celebrate!!

ShrimpSymphonyofSeasonalSongs · 02/03/2021 22:50

I think you can’t beat Tarte blushers
