Truly hypoallergenic nail varnish

During my teens I developed an allergy to nail varnish - sooner or later it causes tiny blisters around my cuticles and just under my nail edge. Ug!

Over the years I have tried each new 'crop' of hypoallergenic varnishes, only for the same thing to happen.

I keep trying because the varnish makes my nails look much neater and (most importantly) stops me biting or tearing them when they snag.

My latest attempt has been NailsInc Plants brand which is meant to be free of 21 ingredients that cause allergic reactions. I was so happy to think I'd finally found something but when I took the varnish off last night I was dismayed to see a slight colour change under the nail edge that in the past has meant blisters are starting.

:(

Does anyone else have this or any recommendations for nail varnishes they have known NOT to cause a reaction?

Please help. I shall be so sad again if I have to have bare, broken nails.

It’s all acrylic based, if your allergic to acrylic nothing will suit you.

A-England is 3-free, but I’m not sure what 3 ingredients it’s free of 😆

Maybe worth a try?

Do you know which ingredient is causing the allergy? You need to pinpoint what it is, as something labelled hypoallergenic can still contain your allergen.

I was under the impression that the 3/10/21 free refers to "toxic/nasty" rather than allergenic ingredients. Maybe try something aimed at children?

Thanks everyone. I don't know my allergen - it never crops up except in relation to varnish and they tend to have lots of ingredients so it is hard to narrow it down.

Children's varnish sounds like it might be something to try...

Acrylics the most likely cause, it’s highly allergenic.

When you hear hooves look for horses not zebras, as they say.

You should mention it to dentists, they use uncured acrylics in some procedures.

I hear you @Fluffycloudland77 and thank you.

I guess it's a life of bare nails for me...
