Help, turns out No,7 and just washing my face isn't going to cut it at 43...I suspect everyone else knew that right?!! Eyeline suddenly looks like it might need some help, he'll, it's all going to pot!

I'm a complete novice at skincare, feeling like I should invest and I need help! Wrinkles setting in...am I too late.

Tell me everything I need to buy!! Ive got lost in a retinol, hyralonic, whatsit, tizz. Thanks!

I have always been lazy with skincare but realised that a face wash and a cheap moisturiser weren't going to cut it for much longer.

I was then directed to Nadine Baggott on Instagram and YouTube.

I'm now using Hado Labo mixed in with some other products and my skin is looking and feeling amazing.

Morning
Face Wash
Hado Labo Super Hydrating Lotion (white bottle)
Simple Age Resisting Day Cream with SPF

Evening
Face Wash
Nip +Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads
Hado Labo Anti Ageing Super Hydrator (red bottle)
Superfacilist Vitamin C moisturiser

Sounds like a faff but it only takes minutes. I've also invested in some jade rollers.

The Hado Labo stuff is great - there isn't a massive range, they do have some Anti Fatigue Eye Cream and Eye and Mouth Wrinkle Corrector along with some day/night creams. It isn't hideously expensive either. I buy it from Superdrug.

Yep, go and watch some Nadine.
Her routine is actually pretty simple and she always recommends cheap products as well as expensive.
She recommends:
AM
Cleanse with any old cleanser you like
Vit C (makes the biggest difference in your skin imo)
Sunscreen spf50 always
Moisturizer, whatever suits your skin

PM
Remove make up
Cleanse
Serum/retinol etc
Moisturize

Same - I've only just ventured into adult skincare at 36...previously i'd use a face wash in the shower in the morning (Nivea/supermaket brand, whatever) plus a cheap moisturiser (simple/aldi Q10/Nivea/Aveeno) and then take my make up off at night with face wipes/baby wipes...that's it...

Realised at Christmas it was all going a bit pear shaped, and happened to see that Trinny woman on a Facebook video recommending Garden of Wisdom products which I had heard of before. I like the look of her Trinny London stuff too but a bit pricey I personally think... (for me, anyway)

Basically look up which skin type you have and they recommend you a regime...

I'm now using their daily cleanser morning and night, and then hyaluronic acid serum and daily moisturiser in the morning and their retistar serum and daily moisturiser again before bed.

I have spotty teenage skin with redness/oil and pores you could get lost in, and honestly 4 weeks in and this stuff is brilliant, and nominally only about a tenner each. I even go to work without base make-up on occasionally now without feeling hideous, and tone has improved hugely too. I don't profess to understand the science behind it but the difference is definitely noticeable.

The best routine is one you will keep up with, rather than perfect in theory but doesn't happen in practice. You should wear SPF everyday, but unless you will properly clean your face every evening you won't be doing your skin any favours - that stuff is formulated to stick to your skin! Similarly unless you are going to commit to SPF every day then don't go near retinol or acid exfoliants which make your skin more sensitive to the sun, the sun damage will reverse any good the products do.

The Telegraph did a live chat with a great specialist a couple of weeks ago and loaded it onto YouTube, worth checking out if you are a complete novice.

Good routines don't have to be long with loads of steps, they should just focus on what you need to target. My routine is:

Morning (less than 5 minutes)
Cleanse
Vitimin C Serum
Moisturise
SPF

Evening (around 5 minutes)
Double cleanse
Treatment - for me alternating chemical exfoliant and retinol
Moisturise

Thanks all, I will take a look at those. Any other shopping suggestions while I hit Amazon. Grin

I've not heard of any if those brands. All new to me. I'm a mix of no.7 which feels ok but not best, to Dior when I've felt flush but I know I'm just paying for the brand.

What products do you use? Your skin sounds like mine and I can't see on their website how to be recommended products.
HastySlander · 26/02/2021 22:53

I really recommend skin and me. They will mix a bespoke product for use at night tailored to your skin concerns. They also recommend a cleanser, spf and moisturiser across a variety of budgets and I’ve found the recommendations really accurate.

Rayna37 · 27/02/2021 07:37

I'm 40 and really feel I've got my skincare nailed at the moment after a bit of trial and error. I've realised the textures of the serums and moisturiser make a big difference to my likelihood of using it. As PP have said, the best routine is one you'll stick with.

Morning- face wash, Beauty Pie Triple Hyaluronic serum, Olay Regenerist Whip SPF30 moisturiser.

Night-face wash or cream/balm, a liquid exfoliater like Pixi Glow or the Superdrug Glycolic tonic, then Beauty Pie Super Retinol Serum. In the market for a new night cream but I don't religiously use it anyway; my skin isn't that dry and sometimes just the serum will do.

Cliffdonville · 27/02/2021 07:43

Another recommendation for skin and me, it's made a huge difference to my skin, and I just use the cheap cleanser, spf and night cream they recommend. I started using jade rollers about a fortnight ago and they have made my skin feel lovely and look more glowing, so much so that people have commented.

FreshFaceTime · 27/02/2021 07:53

I noticed jade rollers and rose quartz rollers on the Aldi website the other day. What are they for?

Suzi888 · 27/02/2021 08:48

Factor 50 spf, I’ve used it daily since my 20’s.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 27/02/2021 09:09

Skin+me and SPF50.

WicketWoo · 27/02/2021 09:14

I joined Beauty Pie and have enjoyed trying a variety of products to see what works for me. I would completely recommend a hylauronic acid in the morning - makes my usually very dry skin feel amazing. I have no idea what it is though just know it has made me skin so much better.
