'Mom' jeans - for all ages?

Yes I know I should wear the fuck I want and for the most part I do, but these have me in a bit of a quandry. I bought a pair, a lovely pair, and I think I like them but 14-year-old DD was clearly tying herself up in knots trying not to be rude while saying I was too old for them.

I love those other jeans mum.
You really suit these straight leg ones mum.
Do you really think you would wear them?

I should add that she is the most polite girl and would never in a million years say 'you look ridiculous and you're too old for them' but I sense that may be what she's thinking Grin and she'd definitely trying to steer me away from them.

So, without me saying how old I am, do you think this style is for all or should I leave them to the young movers and shakers?

Honestly I think they look terrible on 99% of people. I just think they make arses look awful. Sorry for any offence caused to anyone who loves them or whose arse looks amazing in them –or who doesn't give a feck what their arse looks like in them!

agree, flat & long seems to be the norm.

FedNlanders · 26/02/2021 13:54

I have just got mum jeans but they are so comfy.

user88899 · 26/02/2021 14:01

I love mom jeans, I have a flat stomach, narrow hips and waist but quite thick thighs so I think they suit me quite well. I'm big chested so look better when I can tuck a tshirt in so you can see I have a waist!

I'm 33 for what that matters.

user88899 · 26/02/2021 14:03

But agree that they are more comfort over style, they don't do my arse any favours.

FedNlanders · 26/02/2021 14:11

Oh I agree they look awful on me 😁

JimmyJabs · 26/02/2021 15:44

I think they look fine on me. They probably do make my arse look big, but then, it is a big arse anyway, and there are no jeans in existence that would make it look otherwise!

I know the OP didn't say anything about only tiny little things being able to wear them, but there were certainly other comments to that effect. I do get quite defensive about this topic because it seems that every passing trend is deemed to be "not for the likes of me", even if I like it, and if I were to wait until the fashion gods designed something to look good specifically on dumpy middle-aged women, I'd never be able to buy anything at all!

wondarah · 26/02/2021 16:02

I don't think it's a size thing more a shape thing & actually believe you should wear what you like as opposed to always trying to flatter your figure. However I'm surprised they are so popular as they are hard to get right but then I feel the same about men in skinny jeans.

Let's have a photo!

ParisJeTAime · 26/02/2021 16:54

don't really suit them, but I see MANY mums in their 30s and 40s wearing them on the school run and have done for years! They are definitely not a new thing for youngsters imo

ParisJeTAime · 26/02/2021 16:56

I don't really suit them, that should say

ISBN111 · 26/02/2021 17:00

No teenager wants their mum wearing the same clothes as them. grin

Except the ones who raid their mum’s wardrobes constantly!!!!

Deathraystare · 01/03/2021 16:19

Oh shit! How can I have got this so wrong? I thought sure that being called 'Mom' jeans meant they would be a more generous cut. I am an apple and thought high waisted jeans would be best. I am around an 18-20 but as I am not fitting some straight jeans size 18 from M&S at the moment, I got the size 20 'Mom' jeans. Dear God! I never thought anything could drown my thighs! These do!
