Weird under-eye dents!

alwaysinthewronglane · 24/02/2021 13:49

I am 50 & don't have bad crows feet lines or very dark under eye bags but I have these weird dents in my under eyes that no concealer covers because they appear structural rather than superficial.

Are my only options fillers or Botox or something? Is there any treatment that would lessen them? I wonder if this is the precursor to really bad droopy eyes... Shock
The image of my eye attached is darkened to show the area I am talking about.
I am referring to the dark shadow/dent on right below eye.
No make up on - I do actually have eyelashes in real life!

I have this too! But mine go further round (towards my temples, not towards my nose) than yours. I wondered if it was to do with me putting on weight, but I’ve lost a stone and they’re still there.

usernolongerexists · 24/02/2021 13:59

if you poke the dent, do you find that there is bone and no other tissue under the skin? if so, I'd imagine it's volume loss. I've had the same as I've aged and other than fillers, there's only so much that can be done to disguise the "dip" cosmetically. I do find that a thin layer of corrector just in the dip does help on a big make up day.

It's a nightmare isn't it! I do wonder whether weight is a factor Blush

Yes! I have had a poke about & it's just eye socket & nothing underneath. Like a duvet from which the filling has been removed!! I think the 'loss of volume' is the thing. When you say concealer - do you mean you put it on the bone of the socket or in the dent? I find it just highlights the dent & fine lines. Maybe my concealer is rubbish!!

I've had something like this when I was suffering autoimmune type stress, it seems to get worse when I am stressed as all my skin goes to crap and also my facial fat seems to disintegrate. When I am feeling unstressed it seems to be better. Eat well, get sleep, drink water and think about what stress you have going on. Also eat foods that have collagen in them, do some facial yoga (ranjana khan is great!) and some facial massage (qi gong facial massage is good) to stimulate blood flow etc.

Totally missing point of thread but gosh OP, you've got lovely coloured eyes.

"It's a nightmare isn't it! I do wonder whether weight is a factor blush"

Hardly a nightmare! They don't look bad to me at all.
Yes, maybe filler, but you really don't need anything.
I wish I could show you my dark shadows without identifying myself!

usernolongerexists · 24/02/2021 14:22

so what I do is use a peachy corrector just in the dips to neutralise the dip, and then apply a concealer that matches my skin tone over the wider area. I find that if I use a lighter concealer it just highlights the area and I get that reverse panda effect. I also try to limit the amount of products and texture I apply to the area as it makes me look worse.

usernolongerexists · 24/02/2021 14:28

so a tiny bit of something like this just in the dips - www.boots.com/becca-under-eye-brightening-corrector-bright-eyes-10263274 - just a tiny amount to diffuse the shadow, less is more

followed by a light layer of skin tone matching concealer, something like nars creamy concealer is lovely

Thank you! I guess we all focus on our flaws don't we...in my massive magnifying mirror those eye dents look like an archeological dig has been going on under my eyes Wink

@StopRightThereDavidCopperfield - I hadn't even thought of some sort of brightener - I always just think of concealer. Right - I will use my Boots Advantage points to try that. Thanks!!
(I love your user name!)

oh thank you! I nicked it from the rather misanthropic bernard black, it never fails to make me laugh.

usernolongerexists · 24/02/2021 14:57

and look at is a neutraliser rather than a brightener, a light layer should just diffuse the darkness and it would then make the dip look less prominent.

I'm not one of these people pleasers who always tell people they look nice so if I say it's hardly anything, I mean it. A it of concealer and forget about it until/unless it gets worse is my advice. Also, they will look very different in different lights so if it's all that time on Zoom that's brought on your worry, you could experiment with better lighting.

Same here, they look like 30 year old eyes. The whites re so bright and youthful

Thats your tear trough where you have lost fat.
you can have them filled for around £500 and which lasts for about 2 years

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 24/02/2021 16:57

Your eyes look lovely, and far better than mine at 32! I have quite hooded eyes, quite creased looking (attractive!) and eyeshadow barely shows. Also have very fine lines underneath but that's probably exacerbated by lockdown drinking!

Honestly I'd be delighted if my eyes looked like yours!

Great! I have lost fat under my eyes but still sticking to my stomach! I never complained about fat eyes! Smile £500 you say? Interesting...

I have the same problem and quite fancy giving this a go.

workshy44 · 24/02/2021 17:59

I personally wouldn't touch your eyes. I always scoff when people say I am 50/60 with no wrinkles and look 10 years younger as I have never met anyone in real life who actually did but your skin looks WAY younger than any 50 year old I have seen. No lines and it is actually youthful too

I really wouldn't get tear trough fillers .. you have really stunning eyes, I wouldn't mess with them.

absolutetelynotfabulous · 24/02/2021 20:38

I have those. Seriously, you can barely see them. Lovely eyes.

I want mine done and also wondering what the solution is.

absolutetelynotfabulous · 24/02/2021 20:45

I didn't word that right!

Your "troughs" are barely noticeable and can probably be fixed with makeup.

Mine are like actual buckets.
