Bathroom pamper/Me time kit...What would be in yours?

Okay, so a bit of background....FTM trying to lose weight and I've identified that I comfort eat to relax on an evening as of late, someone on another thread suggested to me I find something to do that removes food. SO...as part of finding things to do that don't involve eating, I'm thinking to put together a pamper kit for bath times and maybe a pamper routine. Cue Mumsnet and you lovely people for advice and ideas!

To summarise, 1.) what would you have in your bath time pamper kit and 2.) What would your pamper routine be and how often (ie a daily thing I can do or weekly)!

OK so I don't know what FTM means and not a massive fan of baths but I have started pampering a bit more in lockdown due to having a bit more time to kill sitting around at home, so...

Someone on another thread mentioned that the M&S apothocary candles (the "restore" flavour) smelt like a spa so I've added one of those to my pamper list. Sounds absolutely essential if you ask me 😉

I guess if you're talking a bath you'll have a favourite bubble bath or bath oil or something like that? Epsom salts?

Nice moisturiser. Clarins is lovely. So is L'occitane shear butter lotion. Not sure if you're after specific product ideas like that or just more general ideas but those are ones I've used and stand out. Also love palmers cocoa butter!

Face mask. Have heard good things about antipodes makuna honey one but haven't tried it yet as I'm trying to use up an old one first. I'd probs use that about 1x per week but I guess you could do it more often if you wanted to?

Coconut oil on my hair 1x per week (I apply in the morning and leave it on most of the day if I'm not going anywhere!) takes about 3 washes to remove it but feels super soft after. And cheap!

Proper skincare routine. I tweaked the one I had and my face is feeling softer already. Dunno if that's the kind of thing you were on about?

I would also do a foot pumice/scrub/file whatever on dry foot skin and then mega moisturise with socks over the top once applied bath/pamper night then paint toenails the following evening.

Also in terms of distractions... just trawl these style and beauty pages and make lists of things that are recommended or that you like the sound of. I've only just discovered it and I've spent absolutely ages making pamper wishlists (while neglecting my children 😁) - for me this has been a really good way to avoid the news and stop fretting over covid/lockdown stuff so definitely works as a distraction.

FTM = first time mum, I think?

  • Epsom Salts or some sort of moisturising oil, plus essential oils
  • Face mask
  • hair mask
  • Audiobook or paper book
  • something for my feet - I always feel a lot better if my feet aren't awful

Sorry, I often wrongly assume everyone uses the same acronyms on Mumsnet. FTM = first time mum.

Thank you so much these are amazing ideas, especially the one about trawling through the beauty pages on here.

Love the ideas you've given here ^^ I guess I'm just after ideas to try and have something to do on an evening other than eat while my baby is asleep for a few hrs. And pampering made me think it would be something fun and also useful to how I feel.

Oops, makes sense now. I'm a newbie so not really familiar with all the abbreviations!

How old is your baby? Try not to be too harsh on yourself about eating/ losing weight. It's knackering having a new baby and sometimes snacks are just inevitable.

Doing nails always distracts me as I try not to touch anything in between layers (and also try to wait as long as poss for each layer to dry) like if my hands aren't free to unwrap/eat etc I'm kinda stuck. Even with toenails I'm reluctant to walk anywhere so if snacks are in the kitchen and I'm upstairs or in a different room there's less temptation.

I like the book/audiobook idea too as you tend to lose yourself in those and forget about food for a while.
