Oh My God I have CHIN WHISKERS!!

FurrySlipperBoots · 22/02/2021 23:06

Just discovered (and hastily tweaked out) 2 thick black centimetre long whiskers from my chin!! I've been getting them on my boobs for a while and knew they would come for my chin one day, but thought it'd be another 10 years - I'm only just 32!! Ironically I have far less hair on my head than I used to, so that sort of balances it out I suppose.

Aging is depressing.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 22/02/2021 23:15

Yep, I have daily sessions with the tweezers. Have given up trying to hide it from DH.

chatw00 · 23/02/2021 05:41
Grin I am older than you, and have been watching these pesky buggers for some years now. Mine are fair, so I don't always see them unless I'm in good light! Very disconcerting...
Otherplans · 23/02/2021 12:40

If your hair is thinner and you have breast/facial hair, have you been checked for pcos?

CatCup · 23/02/2021 12:42

Get yourself a magnifying mirror near the window. Tweezers for the thick dark hairs, facial hair removal cream for the furry ones. I am also mid 30s. Sad times.

Hellvelyn · 23/02/2021 14:53

Wiry white chin hairs here! Appear from nowhere at warp speed! Very satisfying to pull out. No dark ones thankfully, probably because I have fair hair.

Tisforptarmigan · 23/02/2021 15:01

I have LOADS. I am also quite disgusting because I have "in car tweezers" which I use at a very quiet set of traffic lights on the way to work (before WFH). Think traffic control for one way road.
The lighting is amazing in my rear view mirror and I while away the time spent waiting for the green light pulling out chin and lip hair.

I do wonder what will happen to me if I end up in a care home and don't keep on top of the rampant growth.

jaffar · 23/02/2021 15:13

I've had them since I was 18!

HesSpartacus · 23/02/2021 16:53

This Simplehuman magnifying mirror is your new friend. I thought I was keeping on top of my rogue hairs till I went to a hotel with one of these - it was horrifying. No hair can hide from its magnification and glow:

I just shave my whole face now. You tubers call it dermaplaning but when I watched the videos I thought 'that's just shaving innit?' so that's what I do. Gets rid of all bum fluff. I tweezer the stubborn thick ones tho. Don't want stubble 😂

timetest · 23/02/2021 22:12

I use the bendy springy thing. It takes a few goes to do it properly but it’s well worth the effort.

travailtotravel · 23/02/2021 23:42

Satisfaction in pulling them out at least I guess. Looking at my face in the light again was a bit of a hobbit moment, so back to tweezers in work bag, car, handbag. And a magnifying light up mirror that did not cost £160! About a tenner from amazon.

TyneTeas · 23/02/2021 23:47

Yep, springy thingy is the way to go (epistick), really cheap off ebay

Whatnow100 · 24/02/2021 00:40

Shave or hollywood browser daily. 1 min . All gone !

Jackie2022 · 24/02/2021 00:44

Having nipple or facial hair is completely normal for some women, it’s just their genetics. Eg people from certain ethnicities are hairier than others, doesn’t mean they have a medical condition like pcos.
Workyticket · 24/02/2021 00:44

I have 1 that grows on my neck. Me and dp call it Barry (the Beard)

My tash needs sorting. Rarely look in the mirror as I'm wfh, will do 2m but scared I'll see chewbacca gurning back

TheNorthWind · 24/02/2021 00:49

I think it was the specific combination of hairs in new places/thinning hair on scalp that made Otherplans mention PCOS. I really don't think it was body shaming.

ursuslemonade · 24/02/2021 01:17

Chin, neck, mustache, nipple, brastrap area, shoulders, abdomen. And let's not talk about downstairs. Bloody PCOS.

customwatkins · 24/02/2021 02:13

Chin whiskers also grow incredibly fast - pluck them today and they are literally back again the the morning!

Ladybird69 · 24/02/2021 02:41

I’ve got a great goatee going on. I remember when I was upset about having a moustache! Little did I know what was coming.

Providora · 24/02/2021 02:58

And as you get older you'll become more long sighted and won't be able to see them...

DeRigueurMortis · 24/02/2021 03:15

They are "stealth hairs".

Thankfully I only have one on my upper lip (thick and black - I'm blond) and one on the back of my thigh (blond but...well I'll tell you later).

I look in the mirror in the morning (all is well) and in the evening I might touch my lip and assume DH has deposited some of his facial hair to me though a loving kiss....until I realise it's attached to me...

Pluck it and all is well until anything between a month and 6 month later and the bugger appears from nowhere!

As for the thigh. I first discovered this when I went to the toilet and felt something "pull" as I removed my jeans.

I picked it up thinking to find an 6 inch stray hair from my head (same colour/texture) only to find it growing from the back of my leg and being this 10 inch strand of hair Blush.

I now check for it but I've found it's a stealthy bugger and can get to 4 inches before I discover it.

Noooo! That's amazing. Careful you don't tread on it one day. Being a woman is biologically tough. Sad

The carers shave women with a lady shave but some residents don’t let them but they do as much as they can for them.
CruCru · 24/02/2021 11:06

I was getting mine lasered but the laser clinic is shut. The lady said that I absolutely wasn't allowed to pluck once the lasering had started so I'm having to only use the cream.

Having said that, the laser has made a real difference. I'm looking forward to finishing the course.

stampsurprise · 24/02/2021 11:10

I started a thread the other day about how I have come to like mine. Don’t get me wrong - I still pluck the buggers out, but they’ve been with me a very very long time. I remember when they were brown, now they’re white. Aaaaah! Memories! Wink
