Hair a bit dull after highlites

I finally went to the hairdresser (not in U.K.) last week and saw the same person I always do. I noticed when she took the fools out it looked a bit warm and now a week later it just looks a bit dull and dark and a bit ginger. Is there anything I can do to brighten it up? I usually have a fairly light ashy blond mixed with a darker blond. But this time it’s a dark warm blond and a really warm lighter blond. All I can think is that she didn’t leave the foils on long enough?

Silver shampoo to take out the brassy ness

Silver shampoo/purple shampoo

If you really hate it I would go back and ask her to redo it or put a toner on it

Don't DIY

Hmm you might be right that she didn't leave them for long enough...or do you normally have a toner as well? To get the ash blonde?

You could use a diy toner, but in all honesty, if hairdressers are open where you are, I'd go back and ask them to fix it.

Purple shampoo is for yellow tones not orange. Sounds like they weren't left on long enough. Speak to the hairdresser to say you're not happy with the result

Thanks, I have a purple shampoo so will try that. I dont usually have a toner put on and I’m a bit embarrassed to go back and ask her to fix it Blush

I dont think purple shampoo will help. It neutralises yellow tones, not orange. Why are you embarrassed when it's them that's not coloured your hair the way you want it?

Fanola blue shampoo

Guavasarethenewpink · 21/02/2021 21:32

I know it’s ridiculous to be embarrassed to go back, but I’m cringing at the thought of it and my toes are curling Grin

Purple shampoo is for yellow and brassy tones. But yes if it's very orange a blue shampoo would be better

Definitely go back. It doesn't have to be confrontational. Phrase it well 'I normally love the ashy tones you do on my hair but this seems a bit warmer than usual, is there anything you can do to brighten it up?' It's quite normal. A good hairdresser relies on regular clients and will want you to be happy.
