I live in South Lakes, Cumbria, it rains a lot and is very cold. I don't climb fells for a living or keep sheep, but I am outdoors a fair bit.

My question is, is it at all possible to wear skirts/dresses in a place like this? Ive been here for 5 years now and most people are in leggings, jeans, puffer coats. Or waterproofs.

You get a few elderly women who staunchly wear skirts, and some tourists, but generally people usually give in to the elements and ditch the wool for synthetic. I mean, it makes sense, when I first came to live here permanently I brought a lot of lovely wool clothes with me that simply soaked up all of the damp, it was hopeless.

I like a very minimal look, say a long skirt and soft, loose jumper with a long, wool coat.... But I tend to just wear Fjallraven, Rab, trekking tights, merino under layers, etc.

My big Rab winter coat and my North Face stuff really wouldn't work with a skirt.

WWYD? Save the skirt fantasy for special occasions or defy reality? Grin
Is it even possible to choose how you dress in a place like this?

I'd buy a longer coat , to go over the skirts and dresses

Hello Weird what is your daily routine (in terms of indoors/outdoors)?

I live on the West Coast of Scotland, so similar in terms of wet and cold. Waterproofs and practical clothes definitely have their place in my wardrobe, but (contrary to much of the last few weeks) it doesn't rain all the time, so I wear skirts and wool and nice things whether I can.
