Before you go shopping take a look here:-

www.makeupadvicemessageboard.co.uk/forum/index.php

I used this site extensively for my wedding makeup. The problem with a lot of the counters is they will sell you several products but they might put them on you and seem okay but when you try at home it just doesn't work at all!

I went to the benefit counter before I found the above site and bought £60 of makeup as a result of the makeup test and looked tango'd!

The lady who runs the site is a pro makeup artist and there are loads of pro make up artists on there, they is a tips section and you can ask questions and you always get a great response, whether it be colour or technique etc... I know loads of people who use the site for this and love it, some of us still hang around even though we have been married for over a year

Boots No7 counter is normally good for makeover trials, but try and go midweek if you can so they aren't rushed (or later in the evening during the christmas build up, the make up ladies are always there hating having to do the tills so they like the distraction).

If you can afford to spend a bit more, Estee Lauder are pretty good or any of the Debenhams make up counters. They will normally give you a few samples to try if you tell them you have sensitive skin and 'need to check reactions for 24 hours before buying'

I don't know if they still do it, but my SIL went to estee lauder at debenhams on her wedding day and had makeup done, i think clinique do it as well.

Just did a quick search on Bobbi Brown and I don't think there's a department store near you that carries it, but I used all her stuff for my wedding and I was really pleased with it if you can stretch to a trip to London (most of the big department stores carry her) I would definitely recommend really pretty and naturalistic makeup. Expensive (particularly if, like me, you don't wear makeup much the rest of the time) but really worth it, I think, especially if you compare with the price of having a professional makeup artist on the day.

When you get a makeover they give you a sample sheet with all the products they've used on it, so you don't have to buy everything on the spot if you don't want to, you can order online later if there's something you want that you didn't get on the day.

Also I think for lipsticks Mac has better staying power, so although I liked the colour they chose for my Bobbi Brown makeover, I just took the sample sheet to Mac and got the closest shade there.

Tell you what, book when they are not in a rush.I went on a Tuesday. They used Rubi & Millie on me and honestly it was fantastic. It blends in with your skin and is perfect.A bit pricy but hei,its your big day.I didnt need a touch up at all, and my wedding was in a hot country.Got the makeup done at 8am morning and we were going to sleep that night at about 2am.still looked fresh. You try a number of products before you buy.
