I think Beauty Pie does lurk around mumsnet (there are clues in previous threads) and this one isn't very different. I wouldn't be surprised if OP was from Beauty Pie either (even Marcia Kilgore herself), so I'd like to leave some feedback if possible as I am a member.
Generally I am a fan of the brand and the attitude towards sustainability etc, but there are a few bug bears. I was on an annual membership but recently downgraded because I think you can get similar products which offer more value for money with a higher number of active ingredients e.g Cerave moisturizer.
I would like to try some products like some of the other moisturizers and the cleansers but am put off by the jar packaging - having watched a dermatologist on YouTubeand and reading Beautypedia describing the problems jar packaging, it's really not worth buying those products. I think the public are more savvy now and there's a reason why there are few jar products around compared to before.
Shipping and stock levels has always been a big problem at BP, even before the pandemic to be honest. My favourite product is the triple hylauronic acid serum. However, it was annoying last year during the first lockdown when there were understandably very limited batches available, they were encouraging customers to buy as many as possible and stock up. I think it would have been fairer to have put a purchasing limit on it given that it's popular, instead so that everyone could get their hands on one? After it was sold out for ages. Skincare routines aren't going to work if you can't use the products consistently
.
I do use my membership for stuff like the sheet masks which are great value for money and some other bits and bobs. I will keep my downgraded membership as they are coming out with some interesting new products, I just hope the product availability becomes more stable eventually and that might convince me to upgrade again.
Well that turned into an essay, didn't it
