I need to buy my god daughter something sweet or quirky that is a treat. What can I get for £20? She's not short of cash so I'm keen to go a bit different or at least for it to look a treat but can only spend £20 really. Ideas please!

It's hard to say without knowing anything about her. I know lots of girls of around that age and a present that would delight one would be of very little interest to another. I'd advise asking her mum for some ideas but even that is no guarantee. Even when buying for my own DDs I sometimes get it very wrong!

At that age cash is often the safest bet, to make it more special include a card with a personal message.

True enough. I guess I was just after a steer in any direction!

Something from Glossier (makeup/skincare) brand that teens seem to love, an on trend candle for her room, a nice notebook- something from Papier or similar, brownies or something like Doughnut Time or Biscuiteers by post, something cool rather than cottagey basically.

Books if she is a reader. Happy to give some suggestions if she is!

Face masks, eye masks, hair masks, silk scrunchie, lip balm etc as a little pamper package?

Depends really OP! What is she like? What's the occasion? Smile

jazz1995 · 21/02/2021 03:38

Is she learning to drive? A driving lesson?

mrschocolatte · 21/02/2021 05:34

Hi OP, I bought a cute iPhone case cover that you can get personalised for my niece which she loved! You can get it here

It depends what she is into - at that age I would have loved something like a Chanel nail varnish and a tiny box of fancy chocolates. Basically something that felt 'sophisticated' and that I wouldn't normally splurge on myself.

SpeckledyHen · 21/02/2021 08:26

At 17 my niece loved experimenting with makeup and MAC was her indulgence brand , so a voucher was perfect for her .

DinosaurDiana · 21/02/2021 08:32

Unfortunately £20 isn’t a lot these days, so I’d make a pamper pack with a bar of chocolate, hot chocolate sachet, lip balm, face pack, hand cream etc.
Put it in a present bag.

ElderMillennial · 21/02/2021 08:44

Do you know anything about her?

How about some pick n mix from an online shop. I recently got some from thiscandy.com Chocolates are a bit more commonplace as a gift.

I got my 17 year old niece a filofax notebook and pen set for Christmas. It was around £20.

peachypetite · 21/02/2021 08:46

Asos voucher

ElderMillennial · 21/02/2021 08:47

Lush gift set?

Silk face masks or quirky face masks

Nail polish

polkadotpjs · 21/02/2021 12:53

I don't see her much at all sadly. Not seen her in 18 months and it's a birthday. Her mum doesn't really like me. The was a bit of a family "duty " role as in they made me GM but it was an odd choice.
I know she loves her music. She's into face stuff but not big into eyebrows and contouring type make up.
I like the idea of brownies by Mail maybe
Or ASOS voucher. It's her birthday for the PP who asked the occasion.

That sounds tough OP

There are some good ideas above

The only thing with a voucher is you can't actually get much with £20 so I'd personally rather give a gift for that amount than have them probably need to put money towards or maybe pay for postage (though I'm not sure what the delivery costs are on ASOS).

BUT i would also factor in how you are going to give the gift - will you delivery it yourself or have to post it?

polkadotpjs · 21/02/2021 13:09

I've gone with the brownie idea by post. Nice treat and hopefully says I've thought about it. Was asked to put money in her account at Christmas which I felt very weird about so this is something I'm happier with. £20 really isn't much is it these days?

I've had these as a present. They are honestly the best brownies I have ever tasted. They went down a storm with my children too - my daughter is 13 so not the same age range as your niece but she would have been thrilled with them.

Frumpypigskin · 21/02/2021 13:11

Sorry Polka - cross-posted.

ElderMillennial · 21/02/2021 13:11

I think that's a good idea OP

JemimaMuddledUp · 21/02/2021 13:18

I'd second the recommendation for Gower Cottage Brownies above. They are my favourite brownies.

My teenage kids like the brownies from www.thepuddingwagon.co.uk/ better though as they have more fun flavours.
