Thin hair

Thin hair, limp and slow growing.

Despite all this, I've spent years and years growing it.

All I do though is stick it in a bun and it's not even a nice one.

When ai wear it down, it's limp with a really dodgy z wave at the back abs limp and straight at the front (no fringe).

Is it time to go for the chop? I'm sick of looking drab and messy. Admittedly, I don't have the patience for styling it but even when I try and dry it, it's so thin that the hairdryer tangles the hell out of it.

Fringes are a nightmare because of the thinness.

Help!

I should have added- it's now passed my shoulders and doesn't even sit nice.

Can you post a pic?

I have thinning hair, I've had it chopped to above shoulders and coloured lighter (which is easier to do as I don't need to worry about the condition so much).

I also use a eyeshadow the same colour as my roots on my scalp with a thick brush to fill in the gaps around my fridge area - it really works, I don't bother day to day, but it gives me more confidence for nights out etc

Long blunt cut Bob with hilights made mine look thicker. As for styling, foam rollers when nearly dry. Leave for 2 hour then tong the ends. Gives oomph & volume that lasts without hairspray or product: which makes limp hair worse.

Have you tried any supplements for healthy hair growth? Or there are peptide growth serums for hair. I haven't tried them but I don't use peptides in skin care as the peach fuzz on my face becomes very noticeable, so I'm guessing there's something to it.

I had thin hair, then a good hairdressers told me to buy Perfectil MAX. Which I did and three months later it is much thicker. And I cant see any scalp areas anymore.

Thanks everyone!
I really appreciate your responses. A have a hair appointment in April 1st do that gives me time to think about my options but I think I'll invest in these supplements and serum in the meantime.

Thanks again Thanks

My MIL had improvement with something she bought in the health shop after a recommendation from her sister. Unfortunately I haven't got a clue what it was. I reckon if you mosey over to the fantastic skincare threads the OP might be able to recommend something, she's very knowledgable about all sorts of things and very helpful. The hair serums I know about are from The Ordinary and The Inkey List. Both reasonably priced so if they don't do anything you haven't spent a fortune. Just recognized your user name from the bootcamp threads - I've been lurking and have been trying it properly since Monday. But I might join the thread to ask some questions and check if I'm doing anything wrong. It's going ok so far!

Have you spoken to your GP? Thinning hair can indicate underlying health problems, so you should get this checked out.

I find Garnier Ultimate Blends 'hair food' has a thickening effect on my fine hair - use the shampoo as normal, rinse and then put a very small amount of the conditioner on the ends as a leave in. Obviously not a cure for thin hair but gives a better appearance as a quick fix and not hugely expensive like some salon brands.

Get your Thyroid checked ... your Iron levels checked .. maybe HRT too although you haven't said what age you are ... 🌺

There are some fantastic videos on YouTube showing how to style and volumise thinning hair 💕

Thank you - I should see my GP - was meant to pursue blood tests for other minor symptoms which I think are peri-menopausal (I'm 48) but Covid put a stop to that.

I'll contact them Monday - definitely.
