At first it felt weird, but now when I take them out it hurts 😭. I've hardly eaten all day due to the faff and pain (one bonus!) but then I feel sick because I'm hungry and the invisalign is making me gag!! Is this normal?? I've not even told anyone I was having it down because until this morning I wasn't sure!! Dh hasn't noticed yet despite lisping 🙈. I hate drawing attention to my teeth so feel embarrassed even bringing it up 😬. Also do I have to brush every time I have a drink and eat? Worried I'm going tk be over brushing!

Yes definitely on a soup diet for the next few days 😬. I just hate the feeling when I take them off feels so tender and like the are moving 😳. Pain killers are helping though. I've been debating for years and years. Always feel paranoid, self conscious and hate smiling with my mouth open. I've decided not to pay extra for composite bonding but we will see after the results money depending. I've saved like mad the last few years so have paid a huge chunk and need to scrape through the rest. I've just turned 40 so for me it's literally now or never!! Already wish I did it sooner would have help my confidence so much. I'm partly nervous telling dh due the money side and he hasn't noticed yet!!

The first tray for me has been the worst - on tray 3 now (weekly changes) and time flies!

Really glad I made the decision to go ahead, looking forward to the final outcome

I am mainly on zoom for work so the lisp is annoying but I can’t imagine anyone can see it - so far the first day of each tray the lisp is worst and if my mouth gets dry so lots of drinking of water

DarcyJack · 19/02/2021 19:26

Invisible in the photo as far as I can tell. I don't think it will take long at all as your teeth are already much straighter than mine were. Took about a year for me. Good luck!

I did Invisalign 7 years ago or so - it’s brilliant! The pain will subside in a few days and you will get used to it...just have some painkillers each time you move on to a new tray. I was a bit naughty and would occasionally have a tea etc with it still in...just had to make sure it wasn’t too hot and nothing that would colour the tray... Fixed retainer at the end is very definitely worth it! Keep going, you’ll be so pleased you did.

I did at first as I was sleeping with my mouth open, a drier mouth is a dirtier one.

I think I might have been drooling excessively with them 🙈

I had train tracks rather than Invisalign but the days after adjustment were soooo sore. It's normal - your teeth are being moved! I've had a fixed retainer for about 4 years and nothing has moved.

Meltinthemiddle · 20/02/2021 19:31

Thank you. I could cry today feel conscious of something in my my mouth and my teeth feel so tender and sore especially the top ones 😭. It's generally when I take them out and put them back in. Teeth and gums are throbbing I really hope it settles soon 😢

Hello, I did this exact thread when I got mine at start of January. You do get used to them and the lisp goes after a while. I drink white wine and squash while I'm wearing them without any staining but I change aligners every 8 days.

TaraR2020 · 20/02/2021 20:13

I suppose thats the thing about fixed braces, once they're on, they're on and you don't have any squeezing until they're next tightened.

The tender moving feeling is horrible - really feel for you until it settles!

I had braces years ago and i am still not happy. Im thinking about invisalign. £4,000 FOr invisalign though??? Surely not.

Meltinthemiddle · 20/02/2021 21:17

3.5k so I hope it works!! Thank you im glad it's normal. Mines 2 weekly changes at the moment but may try a drink through a straw if we are allowed out eventually. Taking them out feels awful 😣 it's definitely stopped me from snacking although 2 hour break doesn't seem enough when trying to eat and drink and allow time to brush your teeth. Feel like I'm producing so much saliva especially at night time!!
