I want to go to the GP about my acne but I don't think it's bad enough?

I have what I think is hormonal acne which I've had for the last two years (I'm in my mid 20s). Through improving my skincare I have gone from one new spot appearing everyday to now maybe 1-3 spots a week.

However, the spots are really painful hard lumps under the skin that feel bruised. I really want to see my GP about it but I think it's not bad enough as my entire face is clear aside from 1-2 hard painful lumps under my skin. It's not a vanity thing, they are really painful.

Right now I have just one spot on my entire face and it's a red/purple pea-sized lump under my skin. It feels silly to bother to GP about one single spot, especially in the middle of a pandemic. However, I'm out of options to be honest. I am meticulous with my skincare, regularly wash my pillow cases, don't touch my face, etc.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you

No it's not silly at all, I know there is worse things in life but suffering with spots can really make you feel down, lack confidence etc all through my 20s and early 30's I suffered with acne, only the pill helped with mine, they have various options to treat it with antibiotics and topical cream also, it's worth a call as it's an ongoing problem for you.

It’s not silly, please don’t suffer it. I caved and called my GP a few months ago for acne, I wish I had done it sooner. The pain and scarring was awful.

Don’t hesitate. Take some photos to show them. I did this with my with my son whose spots were similar to yours. They prescribed medication without seeing him. When this didn’t work, they prescribed something stronger from photos which has worked.

Speak to your GP, those cystic spots leave scars, look at it as preventative measures.

Absolutely you should go. I did, they prescribed me antibiotics which made me feel absolutely awful - gave them a while but had to stop.

In the end I signed up to Dermatica and I haven’t had a deep painful cyst type spot since. Not one - I had about 10 at a time before, extremely painful, and I looked awful. My skin has improved so much it’s quite shocking.

So might be worth considering and also see GP?
