Talk to me about year through fillers

I've seen it mentioned on here a few times for helping with dark circles. Could anyone give me some more insight?

I'm mid-30s and have always had dark circles, but definitely getting worse as I get older. My skin is finally clear enough to not need much makeup, but have to have undereye makeup or else I look like a zombie. But nothing really covers them, it just makes them slightly less bad.

Would tear through fillers really help? How often do you have to get it done? What's recovery like? How much does it cost?

Thank you S&B!

I have tear trough filler for a loss in volume. I get around 14 months. It's started to disolve, but I'm happy with a small loss. The healing of the needle point is dependent on how you heel generally. My loss of volume was from illness and I have CF, so around 4/5 days. But you being younger and in good health could be a couple of days. Your troughs look fuller straight away but it takes three weeks for the full results. I had purple under eyes, which I had to put lemon corrector on, I now just use a bit of concealer.

The cost will vary. I use a former Nurse, who has specialised in cosmetic fillers. I'm in Liverpool and pay £250. It's only slightly cheaper from training places.

I got tear trough fillers around 6 months ago again for volume loss. I'm 46 so older than you and I'm really pleased with them. I think they make me look fresher and more rested. I wouldn't say they have helped my dark circles though. If anything they have made them worse. The doctor or nurse injects the filler under the eye muscle which kind of pushes it up nearer the skin so makes the dark bit more visible. The nurse explained to me my dark circles would look worse initially but get better over a few weeks as the filler plumps out. I don't mind that my dark circles haven't improved as I'm happy with the volume gained.
I think you should maybe go and see a clinician when they reopen and get their advice.
I think I paid around £200 but I'm in Scotland so cheaper.

Oh and recovery is almost instant. They put a cannula into your mid cheek and inject up to your eye so it's really just a small hole where the cannula goes. I bruise like a peach as I'm so pale but didn't bruise with mine. I've seen others bruising under their eyes though.

ter trough fillers are for under eye volume loss not for dark citrcles caused by pigmentation.

You need to think about skin brightening eye creams if you have brown pigment around the eye. Or eye creams that improve circulation if you have a blue hue.

Yea, I've always been told by practitioners that tear trough filler is not for dark circles. For some people the extra volume will reduce the shadow, and therefore the appearance of darkness but it won't change the skin pigmentation.

I have read up on these for years as it’s the most ageing thing I hate about my face. However, I’m put off by the cost as I wouldn’t consider letting anyone other than a plastic surgeon/ consultant doctor specialist near me, but mainly because of the risk of blindness!

DailyCandy · 16/02/2021 22:03

For hollowed tear troughs - fantastic. But I’m mid 40’s... I wouldn’t have had them at your age, certainly not got dark circles alone. Expensive but done by a surgeon.

Hm thanks for the replies. I guess I shall continue on my search for an eye cream in the meantime...

I got them done
I had lack of volume rather than darkness.

Honestly it was "fine" both procedurally and the outcome

I had a surgeon Dr Sabrina desai do mine.
She was AMAZINGLY professional and I was in very good hands could not rate her enough. The blindness thing freaked me out so went with the best.
But it did cost over a grand so you expect her to be good Wink

The result was verrrrrry subtle.
No one could tell I'd done anything and I was not blown away as i expected.
Was there a difference - yes.
It is worth spending 3k a year hmmmmm....

I thought that for pale people dark circles were caused by being able to see the veins under thin skin rather than hyperpigmentation. I have very dark circles and not just loss of volume, but I do get the impression it's something to do with "shadows" as well - they're worse when you look from certain angles.
