Looking for recommendations for hair masks for very dry hair, please.

Tried garnier and aussie ones, but not too impressed. any suggestions?

Will coconut oil help? Thank you

I have dry hair and my favourite mask is Philip Kingsley Elasticiser. I always go back to it.

I've just bought the L'Oréal 8 second water, as recommended on here and also i have grow gorgeous hair mask sitting on head now wrapped up in a towel, smells amazing, I always leave them on for a hour. Pantene hair masks are good too.

If using coconut oil I do this as a pre shampoo treatment, extra virgin coconut oil is best from a supermarket, leave on for at least an hour or overnight, 3 shampoos to rinse off and hair feels much smoother and less frizzy.

Castor oil or coconut oil as a prewash mask

Volcanoexplorer · 16/02/2021 21:35

Definitely Philip Kingsley. It’s pricey, but worth it.

Redken extreme sorted my parched hair out

I sleep with coconut oil on my hair once a week and I think it's improved my hair a lot.

I bought Cocochoco hair Botox and I did it myself at home. It will last for months as I don’t do the full head but only where the hair is dry but if your hair is frizzy especially after lights and I’m perimenopausal, it does help and I do hair masks with mustard seed oil left on at night..hope this helps..

A few DIY ideas for you 1. Use silk pillow slip it's brilliant for 'frizz

2.. Wash and rinse your hair in softened water ( I use seasalt). Use a non SLS shampoo and a leave in conditioner.

Do a scalp massage to get the blood supply moving. (just put your finger tips either side of your centre parting and move them back and forwards, not roughly, do it 3 times morning and evening.

Before you wash your hair (it's best to not do it every day) massage a mix of 2\3 lavender ess.oil and half a cup almond oil into your scalp leave it for a couple of hours wrapped round with a silk scarf.

I also use a tiny touch of almond oil (rubbed into my fingertips) to calm down the flyaway hairs

Oh and if you have fair hair use a camomile leave in rinse, if dark hair use a rosemary or sage leave in rinse.

These work so well that I don't have dry hair any more!

Sorry ,use 2\3 drops of lavender ess. oil or rose.

Green People Quinoa & Artichoke conditioner. But beware, it's super intensively moisturising so if your hair is just "normal" dry it's too much. Needs to be rinsed properly, too, especially around the hairline.

If you use a good leave in conditioner, it can act like a hair mask. I personally don't care too much for hair masks because I use a sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. I used to have dry hair but ever since I have been diligent with my conditioner, my hair looks so much more healthier. I also started taking collagen (www.vitaminexpress.org/uk/collagen-supplements) for plumper skin, but I noticed that my hair was less frizzy.

The Body Shop do a wonderful Shea hair mask, £12 for the tub.
