The perfect trench

Inspired by the 'what would you treat yourself to if you had the money' thread, a good trench coat seemed to be a top choice. So, where to find the perfect trench? Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have a short trench from Coast which is good quality but I've lost the wrist straps and belt, it's a little too short to be the perfect trench I think

OK, I know this is nowhere near a Burberry trench coat, but if you're on a budget then this one is really good for the money. (Currently reduced from £55 to £38.50). I got the 'Pale Apple' colour - thought it would be a nice fresh choice for spring, although it does come in the more traditional colours as well.

Ps Zara have done lovely trench coats in the past. Obvs not the same quality as Burberry but still sharp.

Oh, definitely Burberry if you can afford it.

I got one on uniform when I worked for them, it's beautiful and still going strong 10 years on.

There used to be a Burberry outlet somewhere in North London if you're that way?

I’ve got a Mackintosh - the original creators of the classic rain coat.

I find them a bit more interesting/less obvious than the Burberry trenches, for a similar sort of price.

The only times I’ve seen Burberrys are on the rich-but-boring types (sorry!) whereas Mackintosh has more of a cool vibe.

Mine is from Jaeger I bought it on brand Alley a couple of years back and got some money off as it was my first purchase.It’s lovely quality and a great fit .
