Has anyone used Lush Henna?

I know its permenant so it would be a big decision but can anyone send me a pic of your hair using this. Particularly the rouge!

I've seen a few you tube videos on it but yet to find someone with a similar hair colour to start with.

No, but I have seen a previous thread, think it was here, with lots of bad comments about it. One woman said, after going to her hairdresser to see if she could sort out the mess it made of her hair, that her hairdresser said Lush Henna was the work of the devil.
I had been considering it but that thread put me off.

I don't recommend. One of my friends (who thought she's not allergic at all) got an allergy. Red spots on her neck, her head got really itchy. It was a nightmare!

Shellingbynight · 12/02/2021 15:38

I used it about 8 or 9 years ago for a couple of years and found it fine. I bought rouge, noir, marron, and mixed them to get the colour I wanted.

I liked it and had no problems with it at all. I have short hair so when I wanted a change of colour it was easy to do as I could have most of it cut out.

LApprentiSorcier · 12/02/2021 15:44

I use marron to cover my grey - I have dark brown hair so the rest of my hair isn't affected. Never had any allergy problems and it leaves my hair in nice condition afterwards.

MissMatchedClaws · 12/02/2021 15:45

I’ve been using it for years with no problems (I developed an allergy to box dyes). I use marron and it’s not red at all on me, my base colour is very dark brown though... I like it. Make my hair very soft and makes the greys a shiny light brown.

GeorgeTheFirst · 12/02/2021 15:52

I liked it too but I can't remember which one I used, it might have been marron. It left my dark brown hair very shiny and turned the greys + I only have a few- a ginger colour.

GeorgeTheFirst · 12/02/2021 15:52

Also it is permanent yes but it kind of fades so you don't notice it growing out

purpledagger · 12/02/2021 19:50

I used lush henna about 4 years ago and I'm sill growing it out. I wanted to cover a tiny amount of greys along my hair line and the first few items were fine, but then it stopped taking the dye. My hair is dark brown, so you could only see the changes in sunlight.

Mandalakia · 12/02/2021 19:59

I've never tried Lush. I use Khadi henna hair colour and I love the colour. Massive faff to apply it though and it stinks to high heaven.

Craftycorvid · 12/02/2021 23:38

Yes, used it for years, less so now as I’ve switched to organic pure henna powder. Lush henna comes in a block and mixed with essential oils and cocoa butter, one of those may be the culprit with itching. My natural hair colour is reddish brown and I’m grey at the temples. Henna gives me warm auburn hair with red blonde ‘highlights’ (greys). Yes, henna is basically permanent though will eventually grow/wash out. I found Lush bars make my hair rather lank and oily and the organic henna powder is much more economical and less messy.

StrangerHereMyself · 12/02/2021 23:40

I like it but my god the mess and hassle.

TheChosenTwo · 13/02/2021 00:16

I did, once, about 15 years ago. It was a grim experience from start to finish and my hair looked no different after enduring the hideous process Grin
Trusted hairdresser or nothing for me ever since!

citychick · 13/02/2021 06:07

Yes I have gone back to using the reddish/ Auburn block.
My greying hair gets a lovely red shine, but it's now quite dark on my pale skin, especially during winter when I have less of a tan.
It's been a very inexpensive way to keep away the grey during lockdown when I haven't really been going anywhere so my bank balance has taken a breather. I don't live in the UK and the lush shop here does not sell the blond/ fair colour.

I've recently had a significant birthday so am fading out the colour to treat myself to a professional cut and colour.

I have no allergies and it makes my hair lovely and soft and shiny.

Stiles · 13/02/2021 06:15

I've used it and loved it. I'd use it all the time if it wasn’t so messy. Here's my before and after.

It was great on my hair (I used brun) but it was honestly about 15 years ago. It does take up pretty much a whole day of faff.

Lemonyfuckit · 13/02/2021 12:19

I've not used the Lush henna (sounded like a faff) but I use Light Mountain henna powder in colour 'Light Red' - have to ship it from the US but the boxes are only about £5 plus a few more £ for shipping. My hair is naturally ginger but has faded a bit with age and I have greys at temples / hairline which I want to cover. This has been a fantastic solution for me, but felt like was taking a bit of a gamble as henna is permanent. Love the colour it comes out - for me pretty strong bright ginger but very very close to what it was naturally when I was a bit younger. I just redo my roots about every 5-6 weeks - use about a third of a box and takes me about 1 hr to mix and apply then leave for 3 hrs so bit of a faff but only costs me about £2.50 each time, leaves my hair in great condition, really shiny, and far far happier with the result than I was getting at the hairdresser (for an eye watering amount of money).

Kitewoman · 13/02/2021 13:48

It's rubbish. If you want to dye your hair red, some high quality henna body art powder but I would avoid the Lush mush at any cost.

StillMedusa · 14/02/2021 11:15

I used it for years and now my DD2 has been a Lush Henna red head for 4 years (she's an adult not a kid Grin) She is naturally blonde so the rouge gives her flaming red hair..which looks fab .She's currently expecting her first baby and people keep saying 'oh I wonder if it will have your hair'!!! (I sincerely doubt it!)

It's messy.. we grate it, then heat up in a saucepan til it's like custard and apply section at a time, wrap in clingfilm and marinate for about 3 hours. Hair feels a bitfunny for a day or two after.
On my hair (brown) it came out a much deeper shade but still great ..I don't henna now as too much grey.
This is DD2's (I asked if it was ok to post a pic and she said yes, just pick a decent one !)

I absolutely love lush henna, natural red hair but very faded with age.

I'm bleach blond at the moment and wondering about going back to red ( have a block as it last me years), scared to put it on bleach though.
It is a right faff to do but smells heavenly and makes my hair so nice.
