A good handcream

Hi all
My hands are shocking I really need to start wearing gloves when I wash up !
I've been using a royal jelly hand cream that my mum bought me but it doesn't do much to be honest! I want an effective hand cream that's going to help sort out the dry skin on my fingers as well. What do you all use and does it work!!

L’Occitane Shea Butter hand cream and the Neutrogena Norwegian formula cream work well for me. L’Occitane is expensive, but works and lasts ages.
You’re right about using rubber gloves to wash up, and when hands are really cracked it helps to slather your hands in cream and wear cotton gloves overnight. Boots sell them, or you could just use cotton socks!
Endless hand washing and sanitizer are just not good for hands!

Atrixo. It's amazing.

HelloDulling · 09/02/2021 14:38

My fave are L’Occitane Shea Butter, Kiehl’s, or Clarins Hand and Nail. The Body Shop Hemp is good too.

TinyCake · 09/02/2021 14:50

L’Occitane Intensive Hand Balm slathered on at night

thesoundofthepolice · 09/02/2021 14:56

Flexitol hand balm and a couple of goes with a rough body exfoliator to get them back into good condition and then L'occitaine Shea butter slathered and if you can over night with gloves on.

lazylinguist · 09/02/2021 15:08

Body Shop Hemp hand cream. Very effective and a lot cheaper than L'Occitane. L'Occitane smells nicer though!

HaroldMeeker · 09/02/2021 15:18

Im very happy with good old E45 daily hand cream most of the time, but use O'Keefe's hand cream in winter. It's pricy but stops my hands cracking and isn't too madly scented. It's personal taste but I hate an overly scented hand cream.

RedPaperLantern · 09/02/2021 15:23

D’Alchemy Spectacular Hand treatment to get them back in shape then as an occasional treat.

Otherwise Trilogy or Dr Organic to keep on top of things.

PeacheyPeach · 09/02/2021 16:21

Thanks for the relies x just been on the L’Occitane website and not as expensive as I thought so will probably treat myself come payday x

The neutrogena Norwegian formula or Flexitol hand creams as pps have mentioned.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 09/02/2021 16:28

I suffer from badly chapped hands & use Nursem or Lansinoh nipple cream when they get really bad.

LadyEloise · 09/02/2021 17:09

Personally I think L'occitane is lovely but very pricey. You get such a small tube for €10
Atrixo is great but sticky.
Aveeno with the navy lid is the Which magazine hand cream of choice - no small accolade. At least I think it is. It's very good.
Neutrogena - again sticky but excellent with gloves at night.
Nivea in the blue tub with gloves is great too.
Palmers COCONUT hand cream is v good and has a gorgeous scent- cheap as chips. I hate the smell of Palmers Cocoa Butter hence the capitals on Coconut.
Clarins is very over rated. Smells lovely though.

woodhill · 09/02/2021 17:11

I love the Clarins one, expensive treat

PeacheyPeach · 09/02/2021 17:40

I've had the clarins one before and I didn't think much of it to be honest . I think because my hands are so rough maybe I need more of a medicated one if that makes sense. I could try the aveeno one. I love the body lotion of this.

& other stories is very good - the hand cream is very rich an nourishing.
sounds a bit counter intuitive, but I use the body scrub on my hands occasionally to slough off dry skin - and the hand cream a lot.
they do a hand lotion as well, but if your skin is really dry, go for the cream in a metal tube. I think mine is almond, but I really like all their products, I'm sure the others are equally good.
their lip salve has proved invaluable recently too.

& other stories hand cream

thenorthernluce · 09/02/2021 18:38

Superdrug version of the Neutrogena Norwegian hand team, called Hand Rescue Balm. Cheap as chips! Slathering that on then wearing cotton gloves over the top at various intervals throughout the day keeps the worst at bay!

bendmeoverbackwards · 09/02/2021 18:47

I like the L’Occitane one but a cheaper option is this

A good handcream
samanthajonespr · 09/02/2021 18:53

Cerave Reparative hand cream, it just disappears into my skin. So cheap as well

Loveatortie · 09/02/2021 18:56

E45 cream.

SeeSawSeen · 09/02/2021 19:00

I really like the Cerave moisturising cream; it really has sorted out my normally very dry hands. The moisturising cream works even better than the Cerave handcream I think, and you can pick up a big tub for not very much money!

ChequerBoard · 09/02/2021 20:50

Nursem is really good for hands that are suffering. I like that the hand cream is really soothing and softening but that it also sinks in totally so your hands aren't greasy and sticky.

They also pledge to give one months worth of free product to a nurse or midwife for every product you buy.

Burt's Bees Ultimate hand cream is not too expensive and leaves my hands really comforted and smooth, but not greasy.

Robinonaspade · 09/02/2021 21:44

As mentioned above, I find O'Keeffe's working hands is soothing and unperfumed without being sticky.

Gurufloof · 09/02/2021 21:47

O'Keeffes is the best I've found. A tub is about a tenner, lasts a year or more. If I use it two nights running my hands clear up.

PinkArt · 10/02/2021 01:03

Lanolips (the rose one smells divine) or Kiehls hit the spot when mine are really dry
