Does anyone dye their hair blonde all over?

I have had highlights for forty years. In lockdown I started growing out my natural colour and it is a horrible shade of dark mouse with about 10% grey.

I have friends whose natural colour is coming through white/grey and you can barely see the join against their blonde highlights.

I thought I might achieve that dark into blonde balayage effect but my natural colour is very dull and it’s not working.

I am either going to have to go all over brown or all over blonde.

All over brown I can do (not sure if it will suit me but easy to dye) but I wondered if anyone uses a home dye to lighten their hair all over and what do you do with your roots? Thanks.

I'll bump because I'm in the same situation. My crown has all sorts going on. I've ordered a new cap🤦🏻‍♀️

What a great question I need an all over blonde dye

My sister did it....not a success story :-( She ended up with orange roots and a straw like texture.

I use L'Oréal Natural Light Baby Blonde. Have been dying my own hair for years and been using this very same dye for about 3 years now. The coverage is great!! I alternate dying full head and roots every other months and I keep the colour nice and light by washing and conditioning my hair with John Frida - Go Blonder & argan oil for split ends. I'd normally have my hair cut every couple of months and my hairdresser always comments that it's in good condition. Hope this helps someone :)

I had expensive highlights for years and years until last lockdown. I now cut and colour it myself - I could weep at the dosh I've wasted!!!

I use Garnier Nutrisse in an Ash blonde colour. I actually find it easier to embrace the greys and style my hair differently, rather than try and get complete coverage.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I feel your pain. I have blonde hair with about an inch and a half of dark roots speckled with grey. I feel like some weird badger/human hybrid.

My only experience of dying my own hair blonde was when I was 15, it did not go well so I've never tried it since - orange hair is not a good look on me.

Was just about to post this!Have hair the same ,dull mousey roots and blonde highlights.Tempted to put a colour on and trim up the sides a bit. It's a grown out long pixie bob.I have a loreal dark blonde here.I've never had luck with the light blonde shades, usually spend £££ in the hairdressers!

All over blonde here too, Garnier Nutrisse with Holly Willoughby on the front works great for me.

Chimeraforce · 08/02/2021 15:32

Yes I use the live one which lightens by 9 shades.
But the regrowth looks awful.
Partner does it as I cannot see properly.

I use eSalon kits. The colour is lovely, I had to use a different hairdresser to normal before lockdown and he said he'd assumed it was natural. You send them photos of yourself so they can see your skin tone, eye colour etc, and then you can ask to tweak the colour for the next delivery if you aren't happy. It does cost a bit more than my old Nice n Easy, but worth it. If my roots aren't too bad, I just skip a delivery.

I do, just a straight up tint. Much better for your hair than the bleach (if that’s what you were using) and no one ever noticed the difference. I do it myself with a tube of tint and developer and costs me around £6 a time for the tube 😄
