Idly looking online at impractical shoes, and found these on Aquazzura. I'd never wear them as they'd cripple my feet but they are so beautiful!

@ElliFAntspoo

ROFLMAO at the how shallow people are in the middle of a pandemic.

My mother died alone in a care home. I couldn't be bothered going to see her for the past year, but I did get a really good pair of shoes. So happy days.

Shouldn't you be out vaccinating people or disinfecting shopping baskets instead of wasting your time making comments on an internet forum? Or wasting electricity?

We are in the middle of a global pandemic, you know!

Back to shoes.

I love something with a bit of colour - there is too much beige these days!

Oblomov21 · 05/02/2021 13:40

I think they are 80's Carrie Bradshaw too.

ElliFAntspoo · 05/02/2021 13:46

don't be so bloody snotty...no one has said this
The point is the shallowness of obsessing over a pair of shoes as a way of hiding emotionally from the biggest health crisis for a hundred years. I'm sure the psychologists would find this hilarious. A classic example of cognitive dissonance. But like I said, they really capture that 80's meat market feel. If I wanted to recapture my youth and feel like a piece of meat when I'm out, I'd go for something like those. As it is no one sees my shoes (slippers) in meetings anymore, and TBH I was never so shallow as to obsess over a pretty pair of shoes anyways.

BabyMoonPie · 05/02/2021 13:52

Oooh they're pretty. I've always thought that pumps was one of the strangest words with a different meaning in English and American - i imagine if i told an American I wore pumps to do PE at school it would give them the mental image of a small child in vest, shorts and killer heels!

WhatWouldZenoDo · 05/02/2021 13:53

So so high heeled. But pretty.

Scarby9 · 05/02/2021 13:54

Actually, if you can manage the mindshift, despite what some PP have said, wworking from home during a pandemic could be the ideal time for those shoes.

No need to walk anywhere in them - you are stuck in front of a screen most of the day and can kick them off if you do need to wallk to the kitchen or loo - something you couldn't do in a workplace with others.around.

No one outside your household can see your lower half - half and half dressing has become a trend. Okay, usually the upperhalf is more formal, but why shouldn't your unseen lower half be dressed for a party?

There is also noone outside of your immediate household around to judge your choices.

Finally, wearing them sitting down inside only means they will be good as new for selling on when you come to your senses snd face reality when your world reopens!

Or you can wrap them up carefully as a legacy for a grandchild - This is what granny wore in the global pandemic...

And @ElliFAntspoo - For the sake of your mental health I do hope you are giving your thoughts an occasional break from the pandemic. I have just been for a short, socially distant walk with a friend who needs a hip replacement and is undergoing investigation for cancer. Yes, we talked about the pandemic, cancer and the pain she is in. But we also looked for the snowdrops and buds on some of the trees. We stood and listened to a hedge full of sparrows. And we talked rubbish about hoildays we will take when the pandemic is ovèr - hiking across Iceland, sailing round the Maldives. All complete fantasy, but so important as a respite from the day to day preoccupations. We even laughed.

Ninkanink · 05/02/2021 13:54

Oh lord you’ve over egged it now.

Fgs go elsewhere and be miserable.

LucyCC · 05/02/2021 13:56

They’re sooooo prettyyyyy and I don’t care if I’m shallow, I’m on maternity leave, my 6 month old hasn’t met her ECV grandparents yet, it’s raining and I have no one to see or anywhere to go so if I want to lust after some shoes just for a minute or two then I shall.

I used to wear my wedding shoes (glittery Jimmy Choos from an outlet) around my office to get some use out of them and I’ll be eternally sad that my flappy feet don’t fit into Sophia Webster Chiara shoes.

Dogonahottinroof · 05/02/2021 14:04

Suede- they show the stains
Never have seductive shoes in suede.

Ninkanink · 05/02/2021 14:05

What stains?? Confused Shock

Untrained · 05/02/2021 14:05

Oh don’t! I gave all my high heeled shoes and boots away a couple of years ago. The give away included a pair of the most beautiful, elegant, pale gold, very high heeled shoes I bought especially for my sisters wedding. I loved those shoes but could only wear them when I had my husband to hold/hang on to as they seemed to completely throw my centre of balance off - even stone cold sober I’d be teetering and staggering about. It’s all about comfort and practicality for me now but there’s nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy shoe shopping.....

Dogonahottinroof · 05/02/2021 14:05

80s? It was a late 90s book and tv show

Clutch away Clutch away
Toddlerteaplease · 05/02/2021 14:06

They are lovely, but how the hell do you stay upright in them, let alone take steps?!

Go away you horrible bloody woman.
Time40 · 05/02/2021 14:43

They're beautiful, OP. I love the colour combination and the oval cut-outs. For my particular taste, I'd prefer them with a slightly lower heel, and the heel to be fatter at the top and have a curve, as on a pair of 50s shoes - then they really would be, for me, a perfect pair of shoes.

I still dream about a little pair of ankle boots I saw in Libertys years ago. They were a pale violet suede, soft as butter, with a top that rolled over like an elf in a fairytales boots and showed the lining which was slightly darker leather. Oh they were delicious. I should have bought them and put them is a glass case to sigh over for ever

@viques, just from your description, I want those boots!

I've never got over a pair of black suede shoes I saw in the window of a very expensive shop in Florence, years ago. They were a classic 50s throwback shape, with a very fine orange suede edge and a tiny orange suede bow. After a while, I thought, "To hell with it - I'm going to get them, even if they don't fit. I'll just keep them on display as an artwork". So back I went ... and the shop had closed, which was probably for the best.

Bananajam · 05/02/2021 15:05

They are beautiful shoes! Just the thing to distract from life, I'd wear them and focus my camera on my feet Grin I spent an hour trying on my wedding dress last night. Completely ridiculous, couldn't get the zip up (lockdown weight damn you!) and laughed until I almost burst the bit of zip I had managed to pull up! Life is for living, even in a pandemic!

ExConstance · 05/02/2021 15:30

Lusting after beautiful shoes is just the sort of thing that raises the spirits. I'd be little bit worried about walking in these as I am out of practice in heels. I do a serious stressful job in care, and there have been deaths but a bit of escapism brightens my day and if I did decide to buy some it would help keep one business going.
