Sunscreen around eyes??

I use sunscreen every day on my face (apart from around my eyes) as I use a weak retinol cream. It has never occurred to me to use it around my eyes as I use other moisturisers there. I want to start using a retinol for the eye area (la Roche posay one so not particularly strong I don’t think) and wondered if I should be using sunscreen around my eyes too. I have very fair freckly eczema prone skin if that makes a difference.

Maybe use a moisturiser with a good spf in it?
I tend to wear sunglasses a lot all year if it's sunny as that blocks the UV rays.

Colorescience Total Eye 3 in 1 renewal therapy spf35. You can use it all around the eyes. Also doubles up as concealer. I have dry and sensitive eyelids and under eyes and haven't had an issue so far.

Thank you! That’s probably a better idea - moisturiser with spf in. Will have a look for the one you suggested whenindoubtbake

I just use my regular sunscreen around my eyes. The one I use is heliocare 360.

Whenever I use sunscreen/SPF moisturiser around my eyes, it sweats into them and I cant see for my eyes watering. Any recommendations for something that wont do this please?

I use normal spf around my eyes, on my neck, on the tops of my ears (I’ve seen some nasty skin cancers there!) basically everywhere that might get exposed to the sun. Some of them can run and end up stinging, but if you try a few I’m sure you’ll find one that doesn’t.

Yes you should definitely be wearing sunscreen around your eyes.

Not only is it just as possible to get skin cancer on your eyelids as it is in other places, the skin there is super thin and prone to wrinkles so surely you want to minimise sun damage.

I just slap my regular factor 50 all over my face, neck and ears. Occasionally I get stinging eyes from suncream and sweat, but very rarely and that is with years working in the Med. As the above poster said, just try a few and you will find one that suits you.

Clinique city block

I use soltan 8 hour facial spf around my eyes, and wear sunglasses whenever it's sunny 😎

La Roche Posay Shaka fluid doesn't sting my eyes but it did sting the area above my eyes (I don't know what this area called, I mean under my eyebrows but not my eyelid) when I got retinol on there accidentally (stronger than LRP one). Bare Minerals Prep Step doesn't sting my eyes, and neither does Heliocare Mineral. I used Clinique City Block for years and don't remember it ever stinging my eyes. The moisturising LRP for sensitive eyes and skin is ok, I've had some stinging with that (eyes and skin).

Maybe use a moisturiser with a good spf in it
Please don't do this. Any moisturizer with spf will not be good enough if you are using retinol. There is not enough spf in any moisturiser to protect you, its basically just a sales gimmick. I use la roche posay anthelios factor 50 on my face including the eye area. I'm a bit at a loss to understand how you can apply to the face and miss the eyes!

I use this - never causes sensitivity. Think there may be an spf 34 version as well www.amazon.co.uk/Shiseido-Sun-Protection-Cream-SPF25/dp/B001GKQJ4O?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
