Best regime for beautiful hands

I suspect beautiful is setting the bar too high Grin as my hands are 50 yo hardworking hands (as the manicurist put it last time I saw one).

I did Run Every Day January and I really enjoyed the focus that gave. I'll continue running, but not daily and am thinking my February focus could be my hands. I spend too much time on my phone and have the idea that I could try and break that habit by giving my hands some attention each time I feel the need to pick up my phone.

Hands are dry, nails are broken and uneven, cuticles thick and ragged.

What should the regime look like? For products, I don't mind throwing some money at it but not real high end. I prefer natural or homemade products with minimal packaging, where possible, but would break this for something that can make a real difference.

Innisfree Orchid handcream. Contains SPF which is a must!

I use a simple nail file and ‘tidy up’ my nails very quickly every 2 days or so. I also sleep with night gloves on because I slather my hands in thick cream before I go to sleep.

I'm using a whipped body cream on my hand from Boots that I got for Xmas. Smells nice and moisturising action lasts well. But another major thing I have concentrated on is strengthening. I use a powerbal. This:

Great for preventing my hands aching from reading heavy books!ConfusedGrin

If nails are uneven, you'll have to clip all down to match the shortest one.
Use cuticle remover and get a tool to push back cuticles.
Use a hand scrub.
Use hand cream every night: I like the Clarins restorative one, in a red tube, and apply to hands and nails.
I usually have regular gel polish applied in a natural tone, but while salons are closed, I've just been applying a normal polish myself now and again.
I'm 57.

Every time you have them in water use Garnier 7 day repair hand cream. Overnight I use Nivea body lotion as it has almond oil in it. Im 53 & no hand wrinkles or age spots: & my nails arent flaking any more ( I don't keep them v long now, just nicely squared off, maybe .5 cm long)

The things that make the biggest difference are being absolutely rigid about moisturising every time you wash your hands;wearing gloves for washing up,gardening, dusting, etc and always using high factor suncream. Put a tube of moisturiser or moisturising suncream in your handbag or pocket and beside the sinks in your house.

Slather you’re hands in moisturiser and go to sleep wearing cotton gloves. You’ll wake up with hands that look about 12!
