I'm done with polyesters. Where will I shop now?

I just can't bear the static anymore (I've tried all the remedies. They don't work for me.) I've seen some nice pieces on Thought and People Tree, knits from Pure Collection and a few bits from Uniqlo, but where do you recommend for a natural fabric wardrobe? If love an every day jumpsuit some trousers. I've lots of woollens as I'm a cold creature at the best of times. TIA.

Mistral gave quite a few cotton tops, cotton cord/moleskin/denim bottoms.

Surprisingly, Sainsbury’s Tu do too.

LadyEloise · 31/01/2021 11:29

@mizu
Thank you for introducing me to Olive clothing.
Some lovely dresses BUT the ones I love seem to stop at size 12 or 14 Sad

I have to lose weight.

TableNiner · 31/01/2021 11:32

For H&M online, try searching just the Premium collection

mizu · 31/01/2021 14:32

Ladyeloise lots of Olive clothing is one size...... I have one of their dresses.....it's still on the website I think but of course it depends on what style you like.

I'm done with polyesters. Where will I shop now?
LadyEloise · 31/01/2021 15:12

Thanks mizu.
On the great website they have a section beside the size where it says "Will it fit?"
Sadly, some of the lovely dresses I've been drawn to, despite being one size are stated to be not fitting size 40 or size 42.
Never mind size 44.
Sigh

BringMeTea · 31/01/2021 15:52

Agree with pp...H&M Premium section... find quite a bit there.

TheWashingMachine · 31/01/2021 15:55

M&s do some good plain cotton tees for layering

QueenRefusenik · 31/01/2021 15:58

Esprit does a lot of surprisingly cheap organic cotton stuff, including some v nice jeans. It lets you filter a search by material and sustainability too

monicacat · 31/01/2021 15:59

I love this post, I have been thinking the same thing and have had a massive clearout.

BangingOn · 31/01/2021 16:39

@Barmbraic I find Baukjen a lot more flattering than Cos. I do have some things from Cos which I love but I have learnt that their clothes need to show my collar bone and have definition at the waist to suit me.

Baukjen, on the other hand, generally really suits me but I need to lose my post-baby tummy (ignoring the fact the baby is now 7 years old) before I can wear their more body con dresses. The fabrics are always lovely though.

Barmbraic · 31/01/2021 16:43

Thanks everyone, lots of brands I'd forgotten I used to like.

LadyEloise, I love Paul Costello's stuff but I'm sadly lacking in giraffe legs for most of it and shortening so much never seems to work properly.

I agree about Esprit. I’ve recently started buying more Fat Face as well, they’re good for cotton tops.

GwendolineWindowlene · 31/01/2021 16:49

There are nice jumpsuits on Thought, I’m on a No Spend mission otherwise I’d try one. I have a few things from Thought and they are lovely.
Bam clothing has some nice loungewear stuff.

woodhill · 31/01/2021 16:53

Yes I'm the same. I buy from John Lewis own make, Whitestuff or Fatface

Mozartinmyfanjo · 31/01/2021 16:58

Baukjen is great, good quality and clothes fit and wash beautifully. I discovered them via MN and they are my go to place now. White company,Hobbs, Brora good quality and natural fabrics. Reiss is mainly polyester, and Whistles quality is very poor lately, not worth the £££.

Pizzafortwo · 31/01/2021 17:00

Lyocell/tencel does not crease. I search for this often.

Pizzafortwo · 31/01/2021 17:01

Also Cotton Traders has some nice basics.

Nearly New Cashmere.

Pizzafortwo · 31/01/2021 17:03

Some Banana Republic.

fiorentina · 31/01/2021 17:05

I also hate polyester and mainly shop at Cos, Uniqlo, Arket, Other Stories and some John Lewis own brands. I also love H&M white blouses, dressed up for work or down for work zooms.

lindyloo57 · 31/01/2021 17:36

John lewis do a long sleeve cotton top, it washed better than the one I got from h&m.

OllyBJolly · 31/01/2021 17:40

I'm living in Weird Fish these days. I can't wear polyester - too sweaty and itchy and they do lots of 100% cotton dresses and tops which look good on Zoom/Teams. So comfortable and cosy. No ironing, just wash and wear - and despite lots of washes don't appear to fade or lose shape.

MechantGourmet · 31/01/2021 18:37

I only wear cotton, linen, wool unless I absolutely can't avoid it. I like mostly plain, mostly dark colours. I shop at Muji, gap, JL, seasalt, Sainsbury's, h&m, white stuff. I'll be honest and say I try to buy secondhand to reduce the use of resources and avoid fast fashion.

GeidiPrimes · 31/01/2021 18:59

I hadn't heard of American Vintage until this thread, have just ordered a jumper, cardy and t shirt. Exactly the sort of thing I was looking for and not mental prices.

All the places I can think of have been mentioned already - Gap worth trying, I get a lot of cotton t shirts and sweatshirts from them. The Monki Cares line is all natural fabrics I think. Ooh - Lucy and Yak if you like a pinafore/dungarees/boilersuit .

Cecily42 · 31/01/2021 19:15

I usually wear blouses from Esprit or La Redoute.

Giftwithpurchase · 02/02/2021 06:19

@LadyEloise I live in Australia (in a part where 30 degrees is considered cold) and so my strategy when I lived here and freaked out about what to wear was to browse the site The Iconic.com.au which is basically the Australian ASOS - you can filter by fabric and I found the brands I tend to buy by doing that. I really like Assembly Label and Aere. Originally I thought the surf brands would be good but they are very polyester based. The high street stores here are very bad quality I find. I do like country road for its linen T-shirt's tho - although it is vastly over priced! Free People also does nice dresses - although often very short and I do like fat face dresses (like the Simone dress) which I can get delivered here via Next Australia. It has been a real struggle tho and every year I swear to lose weight to make it easier! I also love H&M premium, but that doesn't exist on the AU website yet .. but at least I can now shop online for h&m (only since 2020 here!)
