Think I'm about to get suckered into buying yet another hair appliance...

Any reviews??? Everything I've read seems positive. Have fine shoulder length frizzy hair, so would love to know how similar hair fares???

Thank you

Worked well but heavy and clunky to use, needed to use straighteners to get down into roots. Sold mine pretty quick.

Very heavy compared to ghds. Does work well but I hate that one of the plate a has a comb - no matter what I do I end up snagging/ripping hairs. Honestly I wouldn’t buy it again.

My hair dresser swears by it but I think it isn’t as good as either BBH or Dyson Airwrap or simply a pair of ghds

I think the main thing that intrigues me is the steam element.

I have dry hair and only recently managed to get it healthy after discovering Nexxus Keratin shampoo and conditioner. For a long time the top section of my hair was really damaged - I felt like the hair shaft was exposed or open as was very frizzy and damaged looking on top.

My revlon styler whilst fabulous in lots of ways in terms of volume and ease of styling, just made it worse with the top always looking awful. Once I reverted back to straightening it was more manageable - it sealed the top better but the nexxus stuff has been a game changer.

It seems to have restored the hair shaft and I suppose I am keen to do anything which keeps the hair healthier and hydrated.

I would really recommend!
I have very thick hair but they are the only straighteners that really work for me. I had the 2.0 for a few years and recently got the 3.0, they are much neater and you don’t have the separate water tank which was a pain.
You do need to use distilled water also...

I have really curly frizzy hair. I live in a hot and humid country and my hair stays straight. That wouldn't happen with ceramic straighteners. Also, I don't have the dry crispy ends.

I have the Steampod 3 which is much easier to use than the original.

So by distilled water @villamaria is that bottled water or Brita water?

Also, do you think your hair is healthier and more manageable than with a straightener?

You can either buy distilled water in the pharmacy or make it, google it’s a bit of a hassle but a little goes a long way!
And yes hair def healthier with the steampod than other straighteners

Thank you!

6 years ago I switched from my beloved ghd to the first version steampod and I never looked back. I’m taking a break from straightening as I’m kind of doing the curly girl method but when I was using it my hair was definitely healthier, shinier and had almost no split ends! You have to use distilled water, I didn’t for about a year and it got bad with limescale (I live in a hard water area) but it got better after a while when i stopped tap water.

I also love the Steampod. I have the older version with the separate water tank but when it eventually packs up I’ll get the new one. I get distilled water from eg Halfords - a massive bottle which lasts months and months so it’s not too bad to have to use distilled water.

It feels less damaging, and it leaves my hair smoother and less prone to frizz. I don’t use it that often - maybe once a week as I don't style my hair every day - but wouldn’t be without it.
