Need a facial oil - Clarins?

Or something else?

I usually use Decelor but since they’ve been taken over by L’Oréal, they’ve changed and the products are now shit (IMO). I have always loved Decelor oils and balms. I love the smell of Neroli - that sort of lovely spa, relaxing smell.

I bought The Ordinary Rose Oil. Don’t like it. It feels like I am rubbing vegetable oil on my face. Clarins seem to do a few facial oils and body oils that look lovely but I wonder if anyone has any other good recommendations before I spend ££. Doesn’t have to be at the pricier end.

Clarins oils are lovely lovely. I prefer both the Blue oils to the Votary. I have the Votary on right now and it is fine but I am going back to Clarins when I’ve finished it.

Kinvara Rosehip Serum - absolutely dreamy 🥰 A little goes a very long way

I've tried both the decleor neroli and the clarins lotus oil. I marginally prefer the decleor one but the clarins lotus oil has a similar fragrance so could be worth a punt for you. I've heard good things about boots sanctuary facial oil but not tried it myself yet. Love a good oil.

I have used Huile Santal from Clarins for years. I tried a few other along the way, but always come back to this. I am 50 with dry skin.

I swear by a smaller brand Sofia Latif oils. Sofia was a fan of Decleor and Nux oils, set out to make her own and they are divine. Amazing scent, not too heavy and her blog is a treasure trove of tips for application, healthy skin. I think there is a good 10% code for a first order.

Link didn’t work, hopefully this one will Disciple Skincare.

I have never used a facial oil, would they help me? I have large pores and am prone to breakouts in the T zone, but also very dry red skin on cheeks.

I use Oil of Life from Body Shop & love it. It’s the only skincare product I have that I can tell when I look in the mirror in the morning that I used it the night before. Gives me a definite glow!

Neal yards rose hydrating oil is lovely. Actually now that I remembered it I am going to use up a voucher I got as gift :)

Another vote for Saira skin oil. Smells gorgeous and my skin loves it! I think she does a sample size for a few quid if you want to try before you buy.

I bought Trilogy rosehip oil because it was recommended on MN. Have to say it did absolutely nothing for my skin. Sorry, that's probably not particularly helpful, but it might save you some money!

Nuxe. It’s lovely. Smells divine.

kirkandpetal · 28/01/2021 23:57

Carlin's Blue Orchid is gorge. I used it for years and then tried Balance Me Rose Otto facial oil and haven't looked back. It's cheaper than clarinet (and you can get it on Amazon cheaper than on balance mes own site)

I use it in the am and follow with moisturiser. It's not oily and sinks in beautifully. Makeup applies well afterwards and I do not have any dry patches ever.

Nuxe oil is also lovely but I can't quite put it on my face. To me it's a body oil and a bit too oily for the face. I love it though for the body and the smell is divine. So much so, I bought nuxes perfume from the same range. Love nuxe in general for their various lotions and potions.

Facial oils aren't going to change the world, but as an addition to a routine they can be excellent. I love an oil at the end of my routine.

It does depend on your skin type though. Rosehip is great for initial signs of ageing and less dry skin. As the Hirons said, once you're over 40, rosehip isn't going to do much.

I have used and love:

Kiehl's Midnight wotsit- this is an oil based serum rather than a pure oil if you read the ingredients list. Smells heavenly. I use this before moisturizers and then a "real" oil after. This one is a repurchase for me.

Body Shop Oils of Life- the one I've repurchased most- this is fab for a fairly low price. No idea why it's so good on my skin, but I wake up going "oooh my face feels lovely" Ingredients are all fairly cheap but I love it.

Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate- adore this, feels really luxurious. Treat myself every so often. Is it better than the Body Shop? Probably not.

Neal's Yard Frankincense, this is the bollocks for ageing and dry, along with the rest of the range. The rose one is also good, but not quite as good as this.

The Ordinary Argan. I hate the Ordinary with a passion. This is great. Stinks to glory. You're not going to feel you've had a spa experience but it will moisturize and smooth like nothing else.

I've had tiny bottles of Decleor oils but years ago.

I have an Elemis one from a gift set and it's another one with a long list of ingredients none of which seem to be natural oils (so posh bio-oil basically) Haven't tried it yet.

Tropic elixir !! My skin bloody loves it

BigButtons · 29/01/2021 08:17

I just use plain old vitamin E oil. Cheap and very effective- better than anything ‘commercial’ I have bought over the years. I’m always 😮😮 at the price of some of these oils. When you look on the ingredients list they are not using expensive oils.
