Advice on dehydrated/dry skin products

I've suddenly aged 10 years overnight! Help!
Can anyone recommend a really good serum for very dry dehydrated skin pls? I'm on a budget so need something that I can use long term without breaking the bank. I've always followed the cleanse/tone/moisturise rule but I think I need some sort of miracle cream Confusedfailing that something that feels nourishing.

It's awful isn't it. My skin has become 15 years older since lockdown began. Nothing will cure the chronic dryness and sudden onset of wrinkles. I don't even drink alcohol. Bought la mer, the thickest cream, and still dry.

Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum is cheap and works Smile.

Cerave Moisturising Lotion for Dry to very Dry skin is amazing. It’s for face and body, I use it on my face and find it moisturising, plumping and it sorts out my winter hands too.

My skin has recently become dry for the first time in my life. I am using Nivea (the standard blue tin cream) on my face at night. It seems to help.

Place marking. Anyone recommend any that are paraban free?

WotAComplete · 26/01/2021 21:06

Joining for tips! I’ve got so crepey and craggy.

Aveno.

I just use the lotion on my face and it does a lovely job.

I think “cleanse, tone, moisturise” is outdated frankly. You have dry skin - chances are you don’t need whatever toner you’re currently using as most tend to be for oily skin. It’s clear that you haven’t been using products suitable for your skin, else your skin would feel soft and hydrated.

What do you currently use?

A basic skincare routine could be:

  • cerave hydrating cleanser or lush ultrabland
  • serums, eg the ordinary hyaluronic acid. There’s a lot of choice on the market.
  • moisturiser
  • sunscreen during the day
  • heavier moisturiser at night, eg the ordinary squalene oil or eucerin aquaphor

Dermalogica multivitamin mask

Thanks for the tips. My routine in the morning is no7 serum and moisturiser. In the evenings I cleanse with simple cream cleanser and then apply bio oil. I gave up on toners a long time ago. I've been using the no7 serum for years, firmly believing that it worked, until last week!!! Frightened myself to death one morning when I caught myself in the mirror and I'm still in shock Smile. I think my skin needs a massive dose of something but as I'm 57 I'm not really sure how effective anything will be at this stage

My skin has got really dry and sore in lockdown. I've cut right down on my skincare and have retreated back to REN which I find calming. My routine at the moment is this:

AM
Caudalie Foaming Wash in the shower
REN Evercalm day cream. Top up mid -afternoon.

PM
Micellar Water
Nivea Double Effect eye make up remover
REN Evercalm Cleansing Milk
REN V-Cense night cream

Seems to be working at the moment.

TableDesk · 26/01/2021 22:58

I find REN Clean Skincare Face
Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm amazing for this and sleep with a layer on every couple of nights in the winter months

Sorry posted too soon...

And on the other nights, a cotton pad with Alpha H liquid gold after cleansing

FlyingByTheSeatof · 27/01/2021 00:16

Drink more water during the day.

I saw a vast improvement after using Hyaluronic Acid

Hado Labo is really good

Girlintheframe · 27/01/2021 06:47

Hyaluronic acid followed by a moisturizer.

Stuffofawesome · 27/01/2021 07:00

Squalane from Q+A great for dry skin

chutneypig · 27/01/2021 07:12

I use the No 7 hydraluminous water surge after cleaning in the morning. Then their day cream for dry skin once that’s sunk in. At night I use one of their moisture surge gel products. They seem to suit my dry skin well.

Triffid1 · 27/01/2021 11:16

Hyaluronic acid is really good for dehydrated skin. Many of those single pack face masks include it, so nice for a treatment once a week or so. My skin always glows for at least a day afterwards. If lockdown ever ends, I suspect I'll get into the habit of doing one before a night out.

Neutrogena does an entire range for dehydrated skin here The sleep gel is excellent - feels a little odd when it goes on, but you will be pleasantly surprised by the way your skin feels longer term. You could get day and night cream and then always drop one once your skin starts to feel better.

The Ordinary have a range of specialist serums, all at v reasonable prices, so might be worth taking a look for something anti aging/ for dehydrated skin.

Pinkiii · 27/01/2021 17:58

Hyaluronic serum from the ordinary

Weleda skin food or Aldi’s caviar range especially the night cream. Very moisturising.

These all transformed my dry rough skin to baby’s bottom in a few weeks

I am mid fifties and have got fairly decent clear skin, with a few fine lines around the yes. I've always looked after my skin as best I can since late teens. It definitely is on the dry side, but I don't think central heating and being stuck inside helps. A balm cleanser at night helps, I use Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm and a clarins face wash in the morning, which also doesn't dry out skin. Estée Lauder products work really well for me currently, cause no irritation and they cater well for dry skin. I have noticed a real difference since using them and would recommend them.
