Foundation with good coverage but that doesn’t sit in wrinkles.

Is there such a thing?!

I moisturise my eyes and use a primer but I still end up with foundation sat in my eye wrinkles making them look so much worse. It’s really starting to get to me.Sad

I’ve used various Clinique and MaxFactor foundations and it’s happened with all. It’s worse when I also use concealer/a colour correcting base. Worse if I don’t moisturise enough. Using primer doesn’t seem to affect it either way.

If anyone has any foundation suggestions I’d be so happy to hear them!

I am mid fifties and don't have this problem. I use Estee Lauder Double Wear. I use Benefit Porefessional or This Works In Transit Primer underneath.

I don't really need a powder.

I like Armani luxurious silk foundation

Luminous

Nars sheer glow is lovely.

I swear by Lily Lolo mineral foundation. (Used to use bare minerals but I’m Snow White levels of pale and they are all too dark for me!)

It buffs on beautifully with the real techniques buffing brush; and if it does catch in wrinkles, buff it out once, and in my experience it doesn’t settle again.

If you’re of a darker skin tone, then you could go to the bare minerals counter and ask for a trial, see how you get on.

Thank you, I’ll go through the reviews of all these!

Second question... how do I choose a colour without being able to test any at the moment?

Lily Lolo sell little sample jars for £2 so you can try a few shades. You could also email some of the brands and tell them your normal shade in other brands, see if they’ll suggest one? Or colour match?

If all else fails I fall back on finding you tubers who are using my shade and seeing what shade they use in other foundations!

I think this is less of a foundation issue and more of a need to set the make up under your eyes to prevent it from migrating to your eye lines.

PawPawNoodle · 24/01/2021 18:38

findation.com/ for colour matching

I'm 43 and I have this problem. My skin used to look lovely with a good foundation, now it really accentuates every line and makes me look haggard.

I've switched to a BB cream (nothing expensive, just a Garnier anti-ageing one) and it's much gentler in effect and doesn't make me look witchy. The days of foundation and powder are gone for my skin, I think. I need a little concealer stick for the odd blemish, but the BB cream is enough to even things out.

BloodyCreateUsername · 24/01/2021 18:39

Agree with PP not a foundation problem, sounds like a primer issue. Try Mac strobelight primer, that works well.

Annebronte · 24/01/2021 18:40

I like Bobbi brown serum foundation. I think you can return it if it’s no good if you order from their website.

I’m in my thirties but have wrinkles under my eyes that I’ve had since I was 20, so I feel your pain with foundation sitting in them, OP!

I like YSL Touché Eclat foundation. Buildable, doesn’t sit heavily or feel heavy. I also like it because it’s good for very pale skin - the range is unfortunately very limited for darker skin

Frodont · 24/01/2021 18:41

Probably very unfashionable, but the best foundation I've found for this is boots no7 stay perfect foundation. I'm 55 and I love it.

I don't wear a primer. I use Glossier Wowder on my t zone. My skin looks good.

JessieOh · 24/01/2021 18:47

I'd like to ask how you're applying your foundation OP?
I used to have this issue and saw a video of someone using a really dense brush to apply their make up. Picked something similar in wilkos for a lot a £5. I genuinely cannot believe the difference to how my foundation looks! I tried numerous foundations and they remain on the shelf unused cos they looked awful. But using the brush they look fine.
For 30 odd years I used my fingers to apply foundation, then tried on of those teardrop shaped sponges which was a little better, but the brush makes my foundation flawless. No primer needed either. It lasts till the evening too.

For the price might be worth a try.
