What can combat jowling?

I had been seriously considering a face lift, as I am not loving the jowling (and nasolabial lines)that are appearing on my face. But when I looked into it, the information from the clinic said that 7% of patients get damaged nerves and for half of these that is permanent! That means of every 31 patients one ends up with permanent facial nerve damage that affects your ability to make facial expressions! I looked up some photos of what this means - its not good.

That's way to much risk for me.

Has anyone tried anything else? And how good was it?

have you looked at liquid face lifts? re volumising the fat pads around the higher and mid face with filler can re position the lower face skin. I think it's something like an 8 point lift.

Strawberry laser, Kelly Brook has had it done

Thanks so much- I've never heard of either of those but I will look into them. @Anotheruser02, is a liquid face lift something you have tried? And if so, what was your experience?

No I haven't, I have the the very start of jowls appearing and I was looking at options for when it starts to get me down, I think it's a bit premature for me yet but I know it's something that is likely to happen in the next year or so. I'm not so happy with my face now but it's not changed enough to fix it up yet.

Marking place. My face looks like it’s melting and I don’t like it.

I've been researching 8 point lifts. Less drastic (and expensive) than a face lift. Be interested to hear from anyone who's had one.

I'm not interested in any tinkering - I think it's pointless when jowls are just one of many symptoms of ageing. However the way I dress makes a big difference. I avoid anything that draws the eye to my jawline, so no high necklines, earrings or scarves (except for keeping warm). Hair stops above my chin as otherwise it drags my face down. And then I look for things that will distract - glasses and lipstick work well.

There’s a S&B thread about a poster who had surgery to tackle jowls.

She was lovely and posted pictures of her recovery and end results. I’ll see if I can find it.

Yes, WingsBingo - I would love a face lift - I keep pulling my skin back and I look 40 again - I love it! But when I looked it up, I am just not prepared to take the significant risk of permanent facial disfigurement.

I think one of my probs, is that after moving country, all my new friends are at least 7 years younger than me (and lots much more!) - so it makes me feel older, as I insanely compare myself to them. Which is mad, I know..
