Bra to achieve pointy boobs

Marmaladegin · 21/01/2021 22:25

Ok maybe title a slight exaggeration but I favour a retro look and I think my (large) boobs just look a bit better in a slightly more pointy shape than ball-shape.

Must be underwired and not ugly. Thoughts?

Have you tried What Katie Did?

Cherry321 · 21/01/2021 23:01

Rigby and peller do pointy boob bras.

MerryDecembermas · 21/01/2021 23:04

The pointy shape is achieved by fugly non wired bras that cover half your torso.. Bravissimo stock some that are less yuck than the classic M and S alternatives Grin

Pangur2 · 21/01/2021 23:06

If you want full 50s “sweater girl” pointy boobs, I also recommend What Katie Did. They do the proper conical bras.

Simonfromharlow · 22/01/2021 03:30

I've seen a triumph Doreen bra recommended for this look before

DramaAlpaca · 22/01/2021 03:43

Yes to Triumph Doreen.

If you really must.

StarlightLady · 22/01/2021 07:05

The retro or retro style ones are called bullet bras. As a PP said, the chances of finding an underwired one are slim. And, in my view the Doreeen mentioned above is more old fashioned than retro. It’s about as ugly as you can get. It’s also not the true “pointy” shape.

“Secrets in Lace” would be a good starting point, but l think they are now solely EU based and because of Brexit, you risk being charged customs tax. See: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/business-55734277

Another alternative might be the Retro Section of “True Corset” who are UK based. I am pleased with what l have from there, but it was not a bra.

Then all you need is the tight jumper. Beware, the bras do take a little getting used to as all of a sudden you seem to have more out front in the bottom corner of your eye!

Marvelina · 22/01/2021 07:06

Triumph Doreen (but not the Delicate Doreen version, the original)

SpeckledyHen · 22/01/2021 07:28

Ring Rigby and Peller . When I was fitted there I tried one that was pointy ( along with a dozen or so others) and it was hilarious on my large norks . Think pantomime dame .

genelouise · 22/01/2021 07:43

Another one for what Katie did
Completely changed my shape in clothes from general blob like top due to roundness being unflattering to definition achieved on torso and sides
Felt a bit conscious at first because really are pointy but feel like I've had a boob reduction - I love it.

sadsaddersaddest · 22/01/2021 12:45

Playtex cross your heart (the original one).
I also like this shape, and bras that keep the breasts separated instead of squishing them together.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/01/2021 12:52

What Katie Did only go up to FF

ramarama · 22/01/2021 12:54

Also worth logging onto Bravissimo website and chatting to them on the live chat - they know their stock and just yesterday I was having a conversation about whether a certain style would make me too pointy. The assistant I was talking to seemed to know (the reviews on each style are helpful too)

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/01/2021 15:03

Triumph Doreen.

Marmaladegin · 22/01/2021 23:13

Wow thanks for the replies! I'll go off for a look but maybe I explained badly- I'm not fixed on going very authentic 50s... it's just I find the "squash them into the shape of footballs a la Katie price to be fairly unflattering on bigger boobs (ok maybe not footballs, mine aren't that big but they are an F cup) so am after an alternative.

Are you sure you’re wearing the right size? I’m a G cup (as measured by Bravissimo) but I’ve never felt like I’m squashing my boobs into anything unless the cups are too small. Different brands have different cuts though so maybe try a few different ones on. M&S do those with the horizontal seams across the cup which I can’t stand but might give you the kind of shape you want. I prefer more natural cups of brands like Freya. There is another vintage inspired brand called Kiss Me Deadly - although maybe not for popping to Sainsbury’s ( although why not? 🤷‍♀️)
