Hand Cream to Reduce Redness

My hands suffer a lot in the winter at the best of times, they are a lot better since I've stopped using anti bacterial hand soaps but this year with the amount of hand washing and sanitising they are wrecked, I work in a school so am sanitising a lot.

Two people this week have commented on them and I just wonder if there's anything out there that would help reduce specifically the redness? I've tried most hand creams but wonder if there's a hidden gem out there me and my god awful hands are missing.

Any recommendations?

I've tried all of the hand creams 😄 - my favourite is probably Aveeno. It's effective and relatively cheap.

Thanks, I've tried that but unfortunately it does nothing for my hands.

Try La Roche Posay CICAPLAST BAUME B5. It’s not a hand cream, more of a healing salve that helps to repair the skin barrier. It will not take away the redness but will help to reduce it. I use it on my face too when my skin is irritated and it helps to calm it.

Nivea Creme has worked wonders for me. You've probably already tried it but worth a mention just in case Smile

Gloves in a bottle is good during the day, I wouldn't say it's the most moisturising but it shields and withstands constant hand washing so you don't loose more and more moisture. Something more moisturising over night like Aveeno or working hands.

UncomfortableSilence · 21/01/2021 19:27

Nivea, Aveeno etc just don't seem to do anything. I'll look at the other suggestions, thank you.

L'Occitane Shea butter? A bit pricy but you don't need much. Or Weleda skin food?

I've recently discovered Childs Farm Hand Cream and I've noticed a big improvement in my skin since I've been using it. I've got the coconut one, which smells divine, but they also do a fragrance free one. It doesn't make my hands feel greasy or coated and soaks into my skin quite quickly. Once it has soaked in, I usually put a bit more on. It's on offer at Tesco at the moment, as part of their club card deals, so worth a try at £2.80! Amazon have the fragrance free one. Hope you find something which helps.

Diprobase ointment. It has saved my red cut up hands ! Any pharmacy and amazon stock it. Use after washing hands.

I sometimes put loads of hand cream on, then wear cotton gloves overnight. Have you tried that?

I've also used Epaderm when my hands have been particularly bad.

Ginger supplement ( or just more fresh ginger in your diet) helps circulation massively. I used it when I had Reynaulds and it sorted it out. It might help the balance between red and white skin?

UncomfortableSilence · 22/01/2021 20:06

Thanks, I have tried Childs Farm but didn't rate it, I know people rave about it.

I'll have a look at the others too, I did use gloves at night years ago but haven't done that for a while so maybe I'll order some of those too.

Have you tried Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector?

Archersandlemonade · 22/01/2021 20:46

Have you tried Aqueous? My dd hands are always red round the knuckles and really dry, sometimes cracked from all the alcohol gel
Too - we’ve tried everything - but this is the only thing that works but it takes a lot to get it under control - applications several
Times a day and using it as a soap. However it is cheap so can’t complain
