Can anyone help my melting face 😒

Hi,

Just that really.

I'm only 36, but over the past few months I've noticed my face is really starting to sag.

My nasal folds are getting really quite prominent and my once big and striking eyes, are now starting to melt downwards.

Feel like a sad, old candle ☹

Is there anything I can do?! I already use good quality serums and moisturiser and do facial massage....on and off.

I always used to be told how young I looked for my age, but the ageing process seems to have massively accelerated recently and quite honestly, it's really depressing.

Is it really just needles or surgery?..

TIA

The Nu Face is the device Ive seen Derms use @Didyousaynutella!

Hello
Another voice to say avoid facial exercises. My neighbour has done them for several years. I mean seriously done them. And her face now looks very weird like she’s had a really bad face lift.

Lurkingforawhile · 21/01/2021 10:35

This happened to me at about your age. I look back at photos from then and can see it starting. I did passport photos this week and it was horrific. I know sleep, nutrition, and water help. I know stress doesn't. I'll be researching fillers once were out of lockdown.

Lurkingforawhile · 21/01/2021 10:37

Is anyone from the home counties (berks, bucks, oxon, surrey) and could recommend a really good place to get fillers done? I don't mind travelling for good work!

Malbecky · 21/01/2021 10:49

We were actually thinking about ttc this year, so don't really like the idea of injected anything around that time, but just realised with the definite lack of/no sleep possibly on it's way, I really may be fighting a losing battle! Grin

Definitely going to give up with the facial exercise and do more massage. It definitely helps with skin texture, but I know I don't do it enough.
**@AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter* and @Popsy321*, I have definitely heard that filler being directly injected into those lines can cause too much bulk in that area,, hence duck bill. I'm not thinking trout pout.
I'm a similar age and also had the lovely melting candle vibe. My doctor put filler along my cheekbones to lift everything, a little into the pads of my cheeks and a tiny bit into the lines themselves. I'm chuffed with the results (I was also worried about the hamster effect and looking weird with a flat nasolabial area). Doc said the key is to make sure to leave some sort of line as it's unnatural to be totally smooth, but just to list everything a bit.

So if you are pregnant, a lot of treatments cant be offered. You cant use the electric devices also shouldn't use retinol, if that's currently in your regime. I'm early 30s and TTC and my idea is that I will be more active in changing my face after (hopefully) having babies haha. Until then, skincare and roller it is!

Agree- please dont use retinol or any vitamin A derivative if you are TTC- it can cause birth defects and we dont know how much is absorbed through the skin into the blood stream.
Malbecky · 21/01/2021 14:19

@EvelynSalt, glad you're happy with the results. I definitely feel like I need a lift (in more ways than one - whole other thread!) so perhaps a mixture if the two would a good idea.

@TheDaydreamBelievers and @AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter, oh don't worry. I actually started that a year or so ago, then researched and decided to stop using it straight away, as we knew we wanted to TTC in the next year or so, so didn't want it in my system at all.

I had the loveliest filled out face when I was pregnant, lovely bright skin too. I think it's something to do with increased blood and fluids.

mrwalkensir · 21/01/2021 16:13

Have had to had upper eyelids done as have inherited baggy eyes. But the exercise where you press just above the middle of each eye and then try to raise your eyebrows does help lift the brows (and doesnt cause wrinkles). Similarly saying very exaggerated Qs and Ts is very good for the neck/jawline...

lindyloo57 · 21/01/2021 16:49

I would like the eye lift surgery, anyone know of someone in norwich who they recommend, I just turned 60 last August , I can beleave at forty you need work done,

postcardfromme · 21/01/2021 16:54

Op what about facial massage that you can do yourself. Upwards strokes

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 21/01/2021 18:25

I read somewhere recently, that filling the folds is now considered bad form. It is considered better/more natural to put a small amount of filler in the cheeks, which lifts the folds. Can't remember where I read it - sorry.

Malbecky · 21/01/2021 19:32

@postcardfromme, I do massage, but not everyday. I go through stages of doing it everyday, but then I just forget and it's probably more like once it twice a week, which isn't going to do much! I'm a bit sceptical with the whole upward strokes to lift the face idea tbh. Surely you can't lift the face this way... I do it more for circulation and to improve the texture of my skin.

@BradleyCooperwillbemine, yes! This is what I read!

Strong filler injected deep into the cheek area, close to the bone lifts the central face area and helps the nose to mouth lines. The sagging that causes the lines is due in part to volume loss in the cheek area. Looks more natural than filling the lines.

Wow, that's an amazing result.
