I am in my fifties and have realised that I must have mixed skin. I normally don't pay atenttion I've been using neutrogena and one with urea. Also one called dermaglos (don't think it exists here). This last one so greasy that provoked something like white little bubbles. I am running out and thought that some advice before buying could be useful. Thank you Smile

Day cream or night cream?
I have had oily acne prone skin, normal skin and now a having a bit dry skin and there's always 1 product I keep using regardless of my skin's condition. It's Nivea Soft (in the white tube/jar). Absolutely love it and very inexpensive.

I had those kind of blocked pores with Cerave cream, I switched to Bielenda Vegan Muesli the matte and well moisturised one, my skin has never felt so nice and cleared up very quickly after switching. It feels far more expensive than it is, it's the first time I've had a cream sink into my skin properly not just sit on top.

@LaBellina I tend to use same 🙈 Thank you for the advice!

@Anotheruser02 thank you! Sounds good 👌

I think the Nivea contains mineral oil which is notorious for blocking pores sometimes.

If you want something really light but very moisturizing I recommend this one

@LaBellina very interesting product! I found this in Q&A This is a lotion with hyaluronic acid. HadaLabo has 2 types, one very watery and the other a bit tackier which leaves the feel of a film on the face. This ad is advertising both at the same time but as there is no option to choose one, I’m not sure which one you’d get.
I’ve used the tackier one for years and it is very good at helping hydrate the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant substance. In other words, it absorbs water and if it does that when it’s in/on the skin, it helps trap water on the skin, assisting with hydration.
The best way to use hyaluronic acid lotions and gels (neutrogena and others have them too. they tend to be called water/H2O boost gels or something like that) is to apply to the skin after cleansing while it is still damp, so the acid has water to absorb and trap in your skin.
You can apply another serum or something else you choose before or after depending on what you prefer, but you MUST apply a moisturiser after for the occlusion of the pores. That’s because if your environment is not humid enough and your skin has more concentration of water than the air, the hyaluronic acid will keep drawing the moisture from your skin and it will evaporate, leaving your skin dryer than before.
If you’re going out during daytime, it’s important to use sunscreen too as hyaluronic acid degrades with exposure to UV rays and stops working. But then, sunscreen should be used always regardless... A good option is to use Gokujun with your night skincare routine. I do and in the mornings my skin always feels hydrated.
It can also be use as a light make up remover, but I don’t wear make up so can’t say if it’s good for that.

I think is worth a try with the one @Anotheruser02 recommended

Wow, thanks for the explanation !
I have the watery lotion and mainly use it in the summer as a night moisturizer when it's indeed very hot. Daytime I use only a sunscreen. I recently ordered this moisturizer (I love Asian skincare, think this is Korean but not sure) for my dry hands but I have used it a few times in my face too and it's lovely! It does really sink into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling.
Might be worth a try too.

On my face obvs not in my face Grin

@AlessandraV Body Shop do a number of skincare ranges for different skin types. With a bit more info I could suggest some products for you.
The key thing is that you have a skincare routine and that you do it regularly. Cleanse, tone, moisturise daily. Make sure you moisturise before going to be as your skin renews and regenerates while you are sleeping.
Yes use a day product with spf, whether it be in your skin care or in your make up.
A product with hyaluronic acid should help add moisture to your skin, not dry it out. Hyaluronic acid binds with 100 times its weight of water so retains moisture in your skin.

@SkinCareQueen thank you!! I don't know
How to explain my skin. I think is greasy (not very) in the middle and dry around. But a very greasy cream turned greasy the dry part. Now I am using the one with oats that @Anotheruser02 recommended. Is EXCELLENT. I am very tempted to buy the Japanese one that @LaBellina mentioned. Also, a friend of mine gave me (as a present) the mask of the drunk elephant. Just starting to use it (once a week) but it seems good! @LaBellina can you send the link for the hand lotion? Thank you all

Ah! And @SkinCareQueen I never tone! Is it indispensable? It seems such a bother. Can you recommend a good cleanser and toner? 😁 thank you!

LadyAgripina · 24/01/2021 19:32

@LaBellina thank you! Do you have any Japanese toner to recommend? Hmm

LaBellina · 25/01/2021 11:09

I recently stopped using toner @LadyAgripina to save money and started putting a bit of chamomile tea on a cotton pad and wiping my face with that after washing it in shower. Very budget friendly and my skin loves it. Before that the last toner I used was Tony Moly Ceramide Mocchi toner. It was quite good actually, very moisturizing.

LadyAgripina · 26/01/2021 23:32

Thank you @LaBellina Smile good idea the camomile, I will try! ;)

LaBellina · 27/01/2021 13:15

Good luck ! I hope it works for you too.
Best is to use just 'normal' chamomile tea without any added flavours such as vanilla etc.
