Dark around eyes

I've suddenly got dark rings around my eyes. I've been using a concealer but it doesn't look much different
Can anyone recommend something that's suitable for sensitive skin

I can't wear concealer, I have around 7 tubes of different ones I try after watching YouTube, people my age 60 saying this is the best, every one I try go's cakey, i only use very little in corner of eye and I set it with a little powder, if you watch angie of hot and flashy on YouTube, my eyes look like the one which fails, I don't have bad dark circles, but could do with it looking a little brighter, please don't recommend loreal eye brightener eye eraser, I have it, and it doesn't work for me

You need a corrector, rather than a concealer. I spent literally decades trying to cover up my dark circles, only to find that a pink colour corrector takes the darkness away, negating the need for concealer.

It was suggested to me on "Style and Beauty" so thank you MN !!

I can recommend either the Chanel Correcteur in Rose, or the Boots Sleek Corrector in the pale pink shade.

Just put red lipstick on like concealer, dab it to blend and then put your foundation on over the top.

I’ve got fair/medium Caucasian skin and the red lipstick trick just made me look like a small child who had been playing with mum’s make up …

Re skincare i watched a video by Hyram and he suggested trying niacinimide so i use that under eye cream. Then a peach colour corrector works wonder, no need for anything else on top. I have very pale skin so it took a while of trial and error to,find the right one.

Think of the colour wheel and the opposite colour to your under eyes is a good place to start. Im sure Robert Welsh did a good video on colour correction

Are you by any chance drinking diet drinks at the moment? I think its the sweeteners but I always look like I have 2 black eyes if I have been drinking diet drinks - diet coke in particular.

grassisjeweled · 21/01/2021 02:50

Interesting about the diet coke

Luckingfovely · 21/01/2021 03:21

Very very interesting about the Diet Coke! Need to watch out for the correlation.

I suffer from dark rings too (hello, posting at 03.20) and the best thing I've found is The Ordinary Caffeine eye serum. Not a magic stick, but seems to reduce them more than anything else.

this thread makes so much sense to a long term problem ... I need to youtube these videos 🌺

You say the dark circles have appeared suddenly. They can be caused by an allergic reaction. A lot of people find they get worse during the pollen season. You can develop sensitivity to products you have used for a long time. Shampoos and conditioners may be culprits particularly if you are washing your hair in the shower. Make sure you wash your face thoroughly after shampooing. You can also develop sensitivity to fragrances such as those in candles. Avoid rubbing your eyes. Mostly they are pretty much genetic. I have them and I find it best just to use concealer or foundation to mitigate them rather than try to completely erase them.

I get dark rings when I have nasal congestion/sinus. Concealer makes the dark just go a weird shade of purple.
