Crappy Skin

I’m 12 weeks post partum and my skin looks rubbish. Since I had my eldest, 3 years ago my skins looked old, tired and bumpy.

In the sale I bought the benefit happy powder foundation, just a couple of weeks ago. I used to use the hello flawless powder and this seems to be the same/similar. I used to find that it was nice and light and suited my face great. However, it makes my face look awful and I think it’s because my pores are open, and my skin just looks a bit bumpy- like there’s under the skin spots but not actually spots!

I go between an oil cleanser and no.7 radiant results daily scrub. At the minute I’m using marks and spencer pure oil cleanser. Every other night I use a retinol toner and the nights I don’t use it I use cerave moisturiser. I always use the moisturiser in the morning after cleansing. Once a week I use a face mask too- tends to be the sheet ones by garnier.

Does anyone have any skin transforming tips? I’m not too clued up on skin care so go easy on me Grin

Mine was similar
I also had red bumps under the skin- spots without a head and huge pores. I always looked blotchy, oily but also dry, red marks and hyperpigmentation everywhere from old red bumps.

-I used Duac gel (medicated for acne) every night for a month- now use once a week
-Stopped using any exfoliating scrubs and switched to Pixi Glow tonic for gentle chemical exfoliation
-Cerave am in the morning, pm in the evening
-Stopped wearing foundation, concealer, powder etc (hard at first as felt v self conscious, but having less crap clogging my open pores made a huge difference)

My skin is TRANSFORMED! And feel confident enough without face make up day to day now. Still use it for special occasions but ok with just mascara now.

I know people on here frequently recommend Dermatica for personalised skincare so may be worth a look?

While you’ve got free prescriptions I’d see the dr because you can get free topicals.

I’ve seen quite a few women on here with this when their post partum but you have just had the biggest shift in your sex hormones since puberty so it’s not unexpected.

@bookshop1 It’s the Aldi retinol tonic that I use. Maybe I should invest in the pixi one. I was thinking about getting the am cerave as it’s got an spf in it. I like the big pot (must be the pm one that I have), I find it really suits my skin.

I hardly wear make up at the minute. I’d decided I was going to start wearing more as I do feel better when I do. It put me off though seeing my face all lumpy. I’ll look into dermatica too! Thank you for that.

@Fluffycloudland77 I think I’m going to give it until 6 months post partum and if it’s as bad/worse (it got worse after my eldest) then I’ll go to the gp. I’ve been prescribed acne medication after my eldest was born although I didn’t need it for long.
