Invisalign...cost?...Smile Direct Club?

I had fixed braces as a child but my wisdom teeth have pushed my upper teeth forward and my front two teeth are now overlapping - I’d love to have Invisalign to sort this out.

A local dentist currently have an offer for about £1000 off so I’m going to investigate that when they open tomorrow...however I suspect I’d still be paying £££ if I go with them.

But I’ve just been looking at Smile Direct Club and just wondering if anyone has used them? As I’ve had fixed braces before I think my teeth will be pretty straight forward but suspect I may need my wisdom teeth removed.

Would love to hear your experiences and most importantly what you paid?

Thanks x

I'd like to know also, I have an overlapping tooth at the front, it's a family trait. Would much rather do smile direct but don't know if it works.

Following - I always had okay teeth but my wisdom tooth has pushed them all forward and one now sits way in front of all the others and I hate it

Don’t use smile direct club! I’m having to go to the financial ombudsman to get my money back, they sent me faulty aligners that wouldn’t fit over my teeth and refused to give me a refund because I’d opened the packets. How they expect you to tell if they are faulty without opening them I don’t know! So yeah, for me, absolutely not worth the cost. Wish I’d just waited to see my dentist to get Invisalign but it was back during the first lockdown and I was inpatient and bored. Also, since I had the issues claiming a refund from them I did some more googling/reading of other people’s experiences and there are a lot of people for whom smile direct really ruined their teeth.

Smile direct cub isn’t advised as you do need to see a dentist!!!

Without x-rays, a general dental health check and correct fixings on your teeth your results are not guaranteed (smile direct club do say this in their t and c’s)

If you move teeth without looking at the roots you can cause some severe issues, ending in possible root canal treatments which are VERY costly done privately and not guaranteed to work - meaning you could need an extraction, so you might pay out for smoke direct slingers, and end up also paying to have painful teeth taken out.

Smile direct is not properly governed and they work by telling you it’s your choice to use them, at your own risk.

Invisalign are tailored exactly to you, your dentist will tell you whether it’s right for you, and they will keep an eye on your perio (gum) health and they’ll know about any hidden factors beneath your gum.

You pay less, you pay twice.

*smile direct aligners hahaha bloody smoke slingers ?!?!

I got fixed braces and went with the first dentist I found which was mega expensive! however I subsequently found out that you can shop around and also barter a bit on costs. Get different quotes if you are able.

Your wisdom teeth don't push your teeth forward that's a myth. Invisalign is great I'd go with that

AhCheeses · 17/01/2021 10:32

On top of all the great points made above... I did notice the Invisalign aligners are cut to fit around the gum line whereas the smile direct club ones are flat at the top, which would surely mean they would rub on your gums!? 😖

museumum · 17/01/2021 10:37

I had Invisalign through a proper orthodontist and her input and treatment alongside the aligners was essential. I cannot imagine doing it without. It was worth the money and discomfort and inconvenience.
(I also had braces as a teen and it all went wrong in my 20s with wisdom teeth arriving).

BumbleFlump · 17/01/2021 10:41

That’s all really useful info about smile direct - you get what you pay for I suppose!

For those who just have a cosmetic issue with the front few teeth, have a look into the Inman aligner and see if anyone near you offers it. It's a bit cheaper/quicker than invisalign, though bulkier & slightly more visible but still removable. I fixed my overlapping front teeth in 15 or 16 weeks.
