Hair wrap for night time?

I'm white and have very thick, dyed (auburn but naturally dark brown), shoulder length hair that hasn't seen a hairdresser's scissor since September 2020. I'm okayish with home dyeing and I'm Olaplex-ed up, but I'm wanting some advice on what sort of ?silk hair wrap I can wear at night that doesn't cost twelvety billion quid. Please...?

Does it need to be a hair wrap or would you consider a silk pillowcase? Appreciate that you may have already tried one.

HotFloppyBread · 17/01/2021 09:20

Not tried anything yet, do you think a pillowcase would be better?

Following with interest. I have to plait at night to avoid looking like a hedge in the morning.

I use a satin pillowcase or this https://www.bambonn.com hair buff

Same hair as you but naturally Auburn, very thick and coarse, boob length. I have discovered Percy and Reed Overnight Perfecting Balm. It's a lightweight leave in conditioner it's really calmed and moisturised my hair, not greasy just makes it a lit more manageable. I put my hair in a low ponytail and sleep on a satin pillowcase

I tried a satin wrap but head was too hot annd didnt like the feeling of it on all night. I now use kitsch satin pillow cases and love them

Silk pillowcases are good, but if you have lots of hair it will still rub on the duvet and the bottom sheet, also being laid on it can flatten curls, whereas when hair is wrapped properly it’s piled up on the top of your head. You can use a normal silk or satin scarf, get a nice vintage one off ebay if you don’t have one. Fold into a triangle, lay it on the bed, put your hair on top of your head and then go upside down, wrap round and tie. There’s loads of tutorials on youtube and insta etc. I find the purpose made bonnets tend to slip off more than a properly tied scarf.

And please don’t go up to a random black person and ask them where “a black hair shop” is, for the love of christ.

MoChridhe · 19/01/2021 18:42

Black hair shops are not essential and will not be open. Look on Amazon

Ask a black person where a local ‘black hair shop’ is

Or use google.

My dc use sleep bonnets which are like shower caps or silk scarfs.

There are loads on Etsy.
