Dont want to wear jeans or anything with a waistband any more: alternatives

I bought a pair of jeans yesterday and found them so uncomfortable. They fit perfectly but in Tier 4, I have got used to slobbing around in elasticated waist leggings. It is not even that I have put on weight. I have actually lost weight. Hence the new jeans. I just can't bear the feel of a waistband any more, but wearing leggings seems like I have given up.
Anyone else? And what alternatives are you seeking out? I was thinking of cord leggings to look slightly dressy. Skirts and dresses too cold for all the endless park walks I am doing.

Joggers.
Try uniqlo, m&s

CutsOffCorners · 16/01/2021 10:04

Dungarees!

tigerbear · 16/01/2021 10:07

Cashmere joggers by M&S
Leather or faux leather leggings

Hazelnutlatteplease · 16/01/2021 10:09

When primark opens their velvet lined leggings are super warm and therefore great under skirts in winter. Much warmer than Jeans and look just like smart opaque tights. Wear with everything from walking boots or Dr Martens to smart little ankle boots.

LittleGungHo · 16/01/2021 10:13

Dresses on the top of leggings or with tights.
Tesco had some black smarting trousers with an elasticated waist that looked comfy.
I have not been a fan of jeans for a few years.

I am not v keen on joggers or dungarees, tbh. But I just discovered this range of easy pants on Everlane. Am clearly not the only one seeking comfort, but not sure if they are hideous or not. www.everlane.com/collections/womens-bottoms

If you're thinking of buying from Everlane have a look at the Trustpilot reviews first. They are pretty awful, I wouldn't risk it.

Hello1290 · 16/01/2021 13:18

Jeggings - I find them more comfy than jean's as they don't have a zip and I think they look a little smarter than leggings.

Floisme · 16/01/2021 13:30

There's a lot of sneeriness about elasticated trousers but I think a relaxed fit around arse and crotch looks more modern at the moment, as well as being more comfortable.
But I think the problem is that they're often badly made and in cheap fabric so they sag and droop really quickly.

I don't know your budget and Toast is expensive and very marmite on here but I have two pairs in this style (though not in cord - they do a version every season). They're comfy, slouchy but not saggy, have belt loops and a faux fly and, back in the day, I used to wear them to the office. If I used EBay I'd be stalking for another pair.

dudsville · 16/01/2021 14:28

I have several cotton cord trousers from COS and Seasalt where the waist has a 3 inch bit of elastic in the back, the waist sits high so doesn't constrict my stomach, and the cut is pleated with wider hips and tapered legs to give shape. They are real trousers, but they feel like homewear!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/01/2021 14:38

I wear mainly jeans or sometimes dungarees, but I also have lovely Cos cords (possibly the same as dudsville) which have an elasticated bit at the back. I bought black ones and loved them so much I got the green too. I will 100% carry on wearing them when normal life resumes.

SunshineandShudders · 16/01/2021 14:44

I have discovered dresses during lockdown. I don't know why I've always thought of them as for special occasions and jeans for everyday, dresses are so much more comfortable, especially this years loose floaty styles. Tights and a dress feel much more "done" than leggings or joggers and a top but they're exactly the same amount of effort.

SunshineandShudders · 16/01/2021 14:45

The beauty of a long flowy dress is you can put thermals under them

SunshineandShudders · 16/01/2021 14:46

I have some merino wool tights that are far warmer than any jeans

TallTowerFan · 16/01/2021 14:47

I hate jeans too. I wear dresses or good quality thick sports leggings and tops instead.

nitgel · 16/01/2021 14:49

I like Long jersey skirts at the moment and knitted tube skirts

DelphiniumBlue · 16/01/2021 15:18

These are really comfortable and look nice. uk.saintandsofia.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/the-runway-pant-plain-black

WhataCant · 16/01/2021 16:06

M&S cord leggings, or a jersey dress with M&S fur lined, 250 denier tights under

ghislaine · 16/01/2021 20:10

Sweater dress and fleece lined tights?

mynameiscalypso · 16/01/2021 20:24

Cord leggings have been a revelation to me. Comfy but smart enough that I don't feel like a slob. Absolutely the way forward. I've got a few joggers type trousers and I'm not enamoured really. I think the silhouette just looks slobby, however you wear them and I struggle with shoes to go with them for the nursery run. I do wear Sweaty Betty exercise leggings a lot too though (even when I'm not exercising...)

Lily83 · 16/01/2021 21:11

I was recommended on here these trousers
