Phillips Lumea reaction?

sparklefarts · 14/01/2021 18:11

I have the Lumea prestige and after the second use have bumps on my legs. They appeared the day after. Not everywhere just in a patch, I'm unsure if they are from the Lumea as they are really quite itchy.

Anyone had a reaction like this or are these just bites from something?

Ah I don't know what to do.
Three days after my last session and I have even more itchy bumps than the first time. On both legs. That was m third session and I think I'm seeing a difference on my face but the itchy legs are rather annoying

I have three days left to return it. Is returning it due to a reaction reasonable?

Should I plough on and hope I stop reacting to it?

I cannot decide

In the instructions it does say that you shouldn't use it if you get PLE. And that looks. Like PLE to me. (polymorphic light eruption).

There's also some talk about it not being a good option for PCOS sufferers, but I cannot for the life of me find the link. But I'm sure I read it on here (with a link to a scientific article).

I'm so sorry if you can't get on with it. I'm a hairy Mary and bought one in the autumn and it's changed my life. (facial hair wise, haven't used it anywhere else). I can understand how gutted you must be.

sparklefarts · 27/01/2021 08:22

Thank you. Have been reading my instructions but can't find anything about PLE

I'm so gutted 😞 I get such bad ingrown hairs, bad hairy chin and moustache I thought this would be life changing

OP all I can say is that I had that reaction the first few times I used it but the spots went down after a couple of days and the itching was fine once I put cream on it. What kept me going with it was that from probably the second use of it I saw a massive reduction in hair regrowth so I felt like that reaction, in the short term, was worth it for the long term hair reduction. I never got reactions after those first few attempts and have probably used it about 15 now. I do see there is a market for them on eBay so I guess an option is to persevere for a couple more goes and if you don’t see the benefit then stick it on eBay and you’ll get back at least some of your money x

Have never been so itchy.

Having an Epsom salt bath to see if that helps with the itching

I didn't go over the spots that came up two weeks ago but they have still not completely gone either

So now I'm worried my hair will still grow as normal and I'm going to have strange scar bumps! Confused

Hmmm the spots should have gone away after 3/4 days. I had those spots quite literally all over my leg but they did go after a few days. Don’t use it while you have them. I bought a really cheap big tub of plain body lotion, e45 type stuff and just kept whacking that on. Such a shame if it doesn’t suit you. The dr would just tell you not to use it and get something over the counter like itch relief cream I’m sure so I wouldn’t call the dr personally x

sparklefarts · 28/01/2021 20:15

It's been two and a half week and the first lot haven't gone sigh

So gutted

I would see the pharmacist about your leg.

Hotmess1 · 30/01/2021 19:49

Yeah they should have gone by now. What setting did you have the machine on? I would second the above poster and ask a pharmacist for something. Gutted for you!!

EvelynBeatrice · 30/01/2021 20:47

Please see a doctor if they don’t improve. Untreated folliculutis can be nasty.

I've been having similar problems too.
30 years of waxing and no problems, just terminator hair that comes back quickly (don't have pcos, I was tested).
2 sessions of lumea and I was wanting to rip the skin of my legs off. I'm going to use it on the lowest setting in small amounts with 3 weeks between treatments.
My thighs are fine with it though Confused.

I'm the same. Everything above the knee is fine. So weird.

It was setting five but that's what it said to do for my skin. Will try setting 3 next time

When I had my legs lasered I had red bumps all over my legs everywhere, front back ankles everywhere. And they were so so so itchy but they disappeared after a few days.

When I had my next session, red bumps all over again, it happened every time.

But the goods news is I persisted and now I don't have any hair on my legs and my bikini line is always neat!

My laser lady said it was the hair follicle dyingGrin

megletthesecond · 07/02/2021 14:29

@sparklefarts my test sessions have been better over the last week. I've used an electric shaver and went right down to level 2 in a couple of smaller areas on my lower legs. No problems.
Did the back of my thighs too. That hair has pretty much given up the ghost already.
Next weekend is my next proper lower leg session 🤞😬.

megletsecond · 19/02/2021 17:20

Have your legs settled down @sparklefarts ?

I'm leaving longer gaps, using an electric shaver and went right down to level two. Lower legs haven't flared up this time. Going to zap again in two weeks and go up to level 3.

The bits I did on level 5 last month are bald, but I just don't want to risk the irritation again.

joangray38 · 20/02/2021 06:14

I had little red bumps after using the braun version- Dr said I was allergic to the razor I had used before hand.
